Monday, November 12, 2012 5:49:42 AM "i think it's like 35 to 45 volts on a phone line but it has very little amperage..." Still bloody hurts if you're holding a modem card and someone rings in. |

Monday, November 12, 2012 5:38:50 AM I'm sure there's a sign somewhere on the box that says "Keep Off". But then, nobody reads signs any more, or if they bother to read them, either don't care or think it doesn't apply to them. But they'll sure call a lawyer when they think they can get some money out of it. |

Copper phone cross connect box. Neg 48 volts. You'll only get a little shock if you touch a line and the phone happens to be ringing at the same time. A kid could cause a lot of damage if they got into one of those. For you youngsters...A land line telephone is what us old people used to use before cell phones to make phone calls. |

Sunday, November 11, 2012 3:39:43 PM Phone line is 48V DC when not ringing, 78V AC when ringing, as mervviscious said, very low amperage. It will sting you but not hurt or kill you unless you have a serious heart condition. |

Sunday, November 11, 2012 1:40:44 PM Uhm, I believe that's just a telephone junction box, Not an electrical junction box. You can still get a 110 volt jolt from a phone wire though, if it begins to ring. |
