Sunday, November 11, 2012 10:59:00 AM I admit. I didn't know that MOST of the EU didn't recognise this as a family. That's pretty stupid. In the U.K, Belgium and Sweden they are though(Don't know many others)... |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 6:49:24 PM So, kids shouldn't have a good loving family, home, food, childhood, etc. because of being picked on in school... ??? Really, Reinblazer? |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 5:59:17 PM "If I haven't made this abundantly clear now, you are just being dense." The only thing you've made abundantly clear is you're a bigot who wants to discriminate against people because you disagree with what they do in the privacy of their own bedroom, not because it's going to harm anyone. In fact, not allowing gay people to adopt harms way more people than allowing it would. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 5:57:53 PM "is a kid in a single parent household won't get picked on at school." Uh, yeah they can be. They can even be picked on for only having 1 parent, or because of how their parent looks. Children bullying is not a reason to discriminate against others. "A kid in a single parent household will not be exposed to sexually deviant behaviour at a young age." "Sexually deviant behavior" is your opinion and it shows your bigotry. Also, there's other kinds of sexual behavior that others may disapprove of (such as sleeping around) that a child of a single parent household may be exposed to. " A kid in a single parent household will not be faced with the same social issues a kid in a same sex household will inevitably be faced with. " So? A kid with 2 parents will not be faced with the same social issues as a kid with 1 parent. Who cares? That's life. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 5:54:31 PM Reignblazer, lot's of kids get picked on at school for stupid stuff, including having only one parent. My guess is they would rather have any loving family and get picked on than stay in the system and hope for parents that aren't "sexually deviant" as you put it.

Saturday, November 10, 2012 5:49:54 PM @ ReignBlazer A kid with a single parent can still be picked on(much like all children regardless of parents). A kid with a single parent can still be exposed(much like all children regardless of parents) to sexually deviant behaviour at a young age. The only correct statement you have is "A kid in a single parent household will not be faced with the same social issues a kid in a same sex household will inevitably be faced with." which is true, they will be faced with different social issues of not having a mother/father which may leave the child worse or better off depending on their region/parent. I don't see the point of not letting same sex couples adopt kids. I mean the kid could wait in some kind of government run orphanage with 12 other kids until they're old enough to leave or go to a loving family. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 4:46:50 PM The distinction, Lillian, is a kid in a single parent household won't get picked on at school. A kid in a single parent household will not be exposed to sexually deviant behaviour at a young age. A kid in a single parent household will not be faced with the same social issues a kid in a same sex household will inevitably be faced with. If I haven't made this abundantly clear now, you are just being dense. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 4:30:53 PM "There is a distinction to be made between single parents and same sex parents." And that distinction is...? Oh, right. One is one parent of one gender. The other is two parents of one gender. One has one extra person to love and take care of and support the child. I can't see the issue. Having two loving parents seems better than having one loving parent, coming from someone who adores her single mom, because those parents can support each other instead of everything falling on only one parent. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 3:39:25 PM "Is it important to have both a mom and a dad?" Irrelevant. There's no law banning single parents, and many places that ban gay adoption don't ban single parent adoption. In my opinion, having loving parent(s) is much better than having no parents at all, regardless of the gender of the parents. My mom raised my brother an I from the time we were 2 and 4 completely alone. We saw my dad maybe twice a year growing up and he had pretty much no influence on our lives and wasn't a good "father figure" in our lives either. We turned out perfectly fine, and there are plenty of people who turn out screwed up despite having a mom and a dad because the key factor is not having one parent with a penis and one parent with a vagina; it's having loving parent(s) who will take care of and support their children. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 3:29:22 PM I have no problems with gay/bi people; what they do in the bedroom is their business.Same sex couples adopting children is a different story entirely however. The ideal of equality for everyone and all that good stuff aside, there isn't really an established consensus about whether or not this works out better or worse for the child. Is it important to have both a mom and a dad? I don't expect same sex parents to produce sociopaths on a consistent basis (not more than 'normal' families anyway). I'm no psychologist so I won't take guesses at what effects this could have on a child's formative mind, but I will say that equality for the sake of idealism is naive. Time will tell I suppose. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 2:57:01 PM And Marc555, I lived in Europe for 5 years, in Germany, Belgium, and England. Your ignorance is noted. Scruffydog I absolutely acknowledge the US is on shaky ground. We're adopting similar policies. That doesn't change anything about the EU, though. Besides, I don't really care what some of our citizens believe as long as my country continues to produce more innovation and scientific progress, for the benefit of mankind, than any other country in history. That is a fact and that is a good thing. And I'm pro-gay marriage, somebody brought that up. But more US states have gay marriage than European countries, so how are we really so different? |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 2:48:50 PM Andrew155, you are one seriously drated up individual. I can't recall EVER seeing one nice or kind thing here with your name on it. You're always bitching and whining and trying your damnedest to piss on everyone else's parade. Either grow up or shut up. Preferably shut up. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 2:04:36 PM "How can US people claim how they remember "the greatness of Europe"? You were all too busy stuffing your face with KFC. Just curious is all?" As an American who hates KFC, f*ck you and your stereotypes! (just kidding) (about the 2nd part; kfc sucks) |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 2:00:11 PM @Andrew155 where did you took it from? It's simply not true, EU (27 countries) still has more patents than USA and Japan. Also while you can patent a rounded rectangle in USA these statistics don't matter at all. |

Saturday, November 10, 2012 1:32:27 PM @Andrew155 As only 10 out of 50 US States recognise gay marriage, I understand your wanting to shift the argument to science. Unfortunately, since almost half of you still deny evolution, you are probably on shaky ground there too. |
