We are, after all, a country who frequently questions a victim of rape and domestic violence like she was asking for it or provoked it. Women return to their abusers all the time, usually with more severe consequences. Unfortunately, few are aware of the severe emotional and psychological manipulation associated with abuse, and societal shaming keeps victims from speaking out. Authorities do little to help until harm is inflicted. My mother's killer was once her boyfriend. He's only in jail now and on trial next month, over 23 years later. The ultimate domestic violence, sadly.

People in Europe get it. This is a man who beat the hell out of a woman, and is able to continue living his life like it never happened. Not only is he not sorry, he got a tattoo to openly flaunt what he did. I find it disgusting that we North Americans can so easily forgive and forget such a horrible act because the man is famous. More so, I find it revolting that people can continue to support Chris Brown in any way. Even with the Rihanna incident aside, this man is a huge douche bag.

@auburnjunky this isn't about politics, this is about what i percieve to be double standards. It confuses me and i'm trying to understand that part of american culture.

@intrigid, you're redirecting the question, why don't you answer my question first before we move on to a new point?

@MrOrange

I'm pretty sure that nobody in the Republican party wants to legalize woman-beating. Even if deep down, some of them want that, I don't think any of them would risk voting for it.

He didn't smack her. He savagely beat her. That picture is a sustained beatdown.

I'm staying on topic. Not everything has to be political.

@RoboPatton, I understand your economic priorities, but it does mean you place the holy dollar over the welfare of women in general?

@auburnjunky, i'm not the one calling you names right? i'm just asking how you (some americans) can reconcile voting for a party which has a "dubious" track record on women rights, which is a thought out action/ statement. and hounding down someone who smacked a woman in a moment of fury. that just confuses me.

Hey, RoboPatton, try getting a "quicky aborsh" in Idaho. Try getting one in Miss. or Louisiana. You want to ignore what's going on in the country, the systematic stripping of rights of women (31 states voted in laws in the last two years to limit access to an "aborsh"). And dismissing rape like it's a rarity, or something that only happens to "them" tells us who you really are what you're really about. So, it's fine that you find the economy more important, but don't spread lies about what's happening to women's rights, gay rights, etc.

"John Lennon was a known wife beater, ask Yoko Ono."

I'm against violence, but I would also slap the sh*t out of that woman.

If she was dumb enough to go back to him then others will sure be dumb enough to watch him.

drat you Jaundicecake.

drat you in your sloppy, diseased, blue waffle.

I'm not senile, or racist.

I fail to see what this drating post about the waste of flesh Breezy is has to do with politics anyway.

Good for them!

@MrOrange, don't believe everything you're told. There is no law that prevents a rape victim from getting a quicky aborsh, especially given rape! Todd akin is a retard.

Also, some of us are worried about our mounting debt, incoming inflation, gas prices likely going higher, and bleak fiscal future, something raising taxes alone can't fix.

There, the minority has spouted off.

Who gives a f*ck about him? People need to stop paying attention to idiots like that and they'll eventually go away.

John Lennon was a known wife beater, ask Yoko Ono. Now let's see if justice really is impartial. I'm disgusted by spousal abuse and hypocracy.

MrOrange, the majority of our citizens are totally against Romney. The ones that voted for him are anomalies -- senile, racist, ghastly people. Our generation, the generation that counts, is almost entirely pro-choice and pro-gay marriage. As the Romney generation dies off, we grow. New America. :')

I mean, if i had to choose, i would rather have my teeth knocked out, then be raped and forced to have/ raise the kid, and have the rapist be allowed to have visiting rights. but hey maybe i'm missing something here? if so, What?

This is one of those things that confusses me about americans. You are ready to hunt someone for the rest of his life for losing his temper (not saying it wasn't bad m'kay) yet a lot of you would vote for a party that would set back womens rights to the 50's and who have several members saying.. rape? it's not that bad, deal with it.
