Looks more like hitting the left/right key probably gives it a poke or shock on its right/left side so it turns away from the intrusion/pain. That's not controlling, it's herding remotely. o.O

On youtube I saw a guy remote controling roaches by putting an electrode on each of its antenna. When he stimulated the right side, roach turns left. Probably what they are doing here.
It's not mind control. |
