Saturday, June 02, 2012 4:58:33 AM It's funny that this was released after the movie came out so they wouldn't lose any sales |

Saturday, June 02, 2012 1:09:17 AM But it's not, it's one of the Alternate Universe versions of the Green Lantern, not the one everyone knows. Lame. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 9:59:18 PM It seems like a sales generating stunt (how many mint copies of this ish are going to be squirreled away in nitrogen-filled baggies in anticipation of a retirement bonus one day?). But I suppose a gay hero won't attract any more attention than a black character one day. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 7:17:02 PM @sathan I agree with you. 75% of my friends are gay/lesbian or bisexual and so obviously I support gay rights but I feel like this is wrong and definitely a publicity stunt and not done for the right reason. That is just my opinion though |

Friday, June 01, 2012 7:13:41 PM @lessah Sorry, but there is no reason to assume this was done for no other reason other than publicity. @Fredspudman got me there. I even watched that video before. Media may not be science, but I wasn't claiming that it was. @madduck We'll just have to wait and see just how much of an increase there is I guess. I can understand there will be an increase no matter what, but how much will influence play a role? Can you say that influence never has anything to do with someone being gay? |

Friday, June 01, 2012 7:08:24 PM @enjin i couldnt agree more. society will never get over its prejudices as long as there is someone keeping track of how many black, hispanic, asian, female, homosexual, transgender, etc people have held what position. its even more irritating when its a fictional character and position. i felt the same way when it was announced peter parker was gonna be replaced by miles morales who is apparently half black and half hispanic. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 7:03:56 PM Creating a new superhero and making him gay would be showing that they acknowledge and are accepting of the gay community. Taking a well-established super hero who was obviously not intended to be gay when he was first created and suddenly making him gay is a publicity stunt. This reminds of of when J.K. Rowling all of a sudden decided Dumbledore was gay long after she had written and published all of the Harry Potter books without a single hint of any such thing. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 6:59:15 PM @personaanima i can understand that but would you rather they kill off a beloved character just to bring in one that is homosexual rather than just have the current one 'come out?' i can name 3 green lanterns off the top of my head and i dont even read comics or watch any of the cartoons or anything else. it would be much more work to create an entirely new character and be much less meaningful. to have him come out shows that even superheroes arent immune to social pressure and makes the whole thing a lot more like what a young homosexual teen would feel. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 6:20:42 PM I would not be bothered in the least if a writer decides to make a story featuring a homosexual. What bothers me is that to them this is an event worthy of a press release. Essentially using this characters sexual orientation to earn them money. It's like they miss the whole point that him being gay should not be a big deal. Who a character in a book decides to f/uck is just a tiny part of the story, unless you are making stories about f/ucking.

Friday, June 01, 2012 5:33:29 PM I don't mind a gay character, every one has their stories and there development. However, I don't like the fact that they are changing an established character due to outside pressure. |
