Sunday, May 20, 2012 7:52:12 AM if even the premise of this were true then the last two generations (at least) of male children would be gay and riddled with horrible cancers. don't see any kids with cancer around here. and in south arkansas not too many self-identify as gay, at least publicly. |

Sunday, May 20, 2012 7:07:35 AM I'm not saying the article is proven, or isn't sensationalised and endowed with the journalist's and the newspaper's own beliefs and prejudices, I'm just saying that the premise that hormones can affect personality and physical wellbeing isn't entirely ridiculous. |

Sunday, May 20, 2012 7:07:25 AM i guess you have better resolution on your computer or better eyes than me You should stop that filthy habit, and your eyesight will probably improve. with regard to the article, I don't think it's an entirely ridiculous premise that oestrogen could cause cancer and homosexuality in phenotype males in high enough doses over a long enough period of time. There's good evidence that hormones play a big part in self-identity. Look at women born with AIS (chromosomally male, but they generally self-identify as female, have female-appearing genitals, and look feminine). Or ask any woman that's been through HRT (lots of psychological and physical changes involved). For that matter, just consider your own experience of going through puberty (most teenage boys go from not being interested in sex at all, to it being their raison d'etre into much of their adult lives). ...

Sunday, May 20, 2012 6:53:48 AM i guess you have better resolution on your computer or better eyes than me because i cant read any of the print under the headline, but i will take your word for it, and yes i googled the newspaper to find out where it was from, but what does that matter? ridiculous, sensationalized headline is ridiculous and sensationalized. on a side note, good to see you MacGuffin, I was worried sick! |

Sunday, May 20, 2012 6:39:47 AM even if bpa simulates estrogen, and Im not convinced it does, how is that going to make a female child homosexual? lol whatever captain euro As you know, I don't like to poke fun at you Americans apparent lack of ability to critically analyse information and geography, but: 1) This article makes it clear in its second line that it is male children the article is about ("the next time you shop for plastic baby bottles FOR YOUR SON..." (my emphasis). 2) This is a newspaper from the Philippines (The Manila People's Journal). You know, on the other side of the globe from Europe. If the fact that the page also references a Philippino sports team didn't give that away, I would have hoped the fact that the newspaper is priced in Philippino Pesos and clearly shows the newspaper's name would. Just sayin'. |

Saturday, May 19, 2012 7:22:31 PM Baby bottles that contain plastic with softeners that leach BPA wreak all sorts of havoc with the human physiology... BPA, as in bisphenol a, mimics estrogen and has profound effects on the human physiology. Research this a bit and don't just discredit the headline, although it's alarmist and sensationalist in nature, there's something to this! |
