Monday, December 05, 2011 9:50:32 AM Seeing as blue jeans were invented in 1873, the song cannot be older than that. Good point, although it could have existed before then with the lyrics containing a reference to a different item of clothing. |

Sunday, December 04, 2011 4:52:14 PM that song came out in 1933 by leadbelly There are references to it from the 1920s, and those references state that it was an old song then (singer taught it by a grandparent, that sort of thing). Of course, nobody was recording anything back then. It's even claimed that it predates the USA entirely and has its origins in England centuries ago. Nobody knows. |

Sunday, December 04, 2011 11:42:57 AM Cool that this was done with machinery. The song gets old fast, though. I can't sit through 4 and a half minutes of the same 2 riffs repeating back and forth. |

Sunday, December 04, 2011 9:34:18 AM @Angilion - I am older than the song. I remember when it was released. You should share that knowledge, as nobody else knows when the song was written. It probably goes back to the 19th century, but it might be older. If you're that old, you could make a fortune from historians. |

Saturday, December 03, 2011 8:48:47 PM @SoberGuy - It is a scanner. @Angilion - I am older than the song. I remember when it was released. The opening shot of a Tektronix 'scope bought back memories as I did a 5 year apprenticeship with them when I left school (after Rising Sun LOL!). |

Saturday, December 03, 2011 7:08:37 PM Wow, its been ages since I've been on here. Now there are even more intrusive adverts, yay... This was pretty awesome, though I question the two oscilloscopes' ability to actually make noise. |

Saturday, December 03, 2011 5:15:00 PM You know your getting old when you sing every lyric in your head. The song's older than you are(*), so it's not that. Besides, I do the same with Beethoven's version of Ode To Joy and that's about 300 years old. I'm old, but not *that* old! * The Animals version is a cover. It's sort of like Usain Bolt - he didn't invent the 100m, but he does it better than anyone else. |
