Here's what i don't understand. If you open the submissions and lets say 500 is an accurate number because i don't know. How long does it honestly take to look through them all? Could i do it on my own? no, but i with the help of even 3 others could get it done within a reasonable time, i don't see why submissions are getting overlooked. Especially since kitteh said she looks for posts just from the "good" posters. Like half of what's been put ON the site is good..
I've been to this site for a LONG time, well before i made this profile. By now i just look at the ones labeled [pic] for a quick chuckle and unless any other titles spark my interest i don't bother anymore.
(on a side note, yes, i was pretty young when i first found this site) |

Kitteh, I am not mad at you either, as there are very few of us "old folks" on this site.
But to be fed the company line of verbal pap, after seeing it fed to so many others was too much.
If you're right, and what you say is accurate, then that's great. It neither changes, nor improves anything. Fact is, since Fancy now has to answer to corporate overlords and attorneys, this site has suffered content-wise.
Regardless of any explanations as to what's happening here, I feel a duty to point out that I have seen mods treat regular, long-time users like crap. I've seen banhammerings that were nothing more than a mod getting revenge on someone he or she didn't like. (Was subjected to it myself once)
So for what it's worth, I will accept your explanation, albeit with a gran of salt. I learned a couple of years ago that disagreements with IAB mods usually end badly for the user.

If there is such an overwhelming amount of submitted content, why are you submitting content yourself at all? Valid question, I think. I understand if you happened upon it during your normal browsing, but still. |

I was frustrated at times myself as a submitter before becoming a mod, so I understand. It is frustrating being a mod at times too. (long story)
The common bond that keeps us together is some weird love for I-A-B. We just keep coming back. |

I'm just frustrated as I know many others are.

Thanks for the explanation Kitteh, but I think this explanation is long overdue. You have a lot of people who are also volunteers frustrated and upset at the appearance of impropriety. This is why I made the suggestion that mods shouldn't be allowed to submit content. (or at least don't do it with a mod account  ) Also it might be time to consider upgrading the site if you want it to survive. I know you do not have control over the site, but if the users do not feel the site is working they will go elsewhere. |

I am not trying to argue with you. I am merely defending myself from the accusations you made and giving you proof of origin.
I like you & MrPeabody both. I have approved submissions from both of you many times before. You both have sent in good content.
Had I known you had sent this in before I posted mine, I would have gladly posted yours instead. Sometimes more than one person likes the same thing and we get it submitted dozens of times. No exclusive finds on I-A-B.
Too bad you guys can't tell who approves your submissions...

To answer your question.
I didn't say we 'can't' view all the submissions...we could (given proper time & if we got paid to do that)
I said we 'don't' view all the submissions. Here's a few examples why:
Mods open the suggestion link and BOOM 500 submissions are there. You:
A)Watch every video no matter how horrific (500x average 3 minute vid)
B)Sift through them scanning for submitters who turn in decent posts (missing a few occasionally, because you are scanning)After plucking good ones you notice, you go look for more online.
C)Start looking through them all and, after 30 of them turn out to be broken links and/or advertisements and/or porn, you give up and go to other sites looking for content on your own.
Another issue is when the system gets backed up, Fancy will delete older submissions because the list gets overwhelming at times. Also we can look at submissions like them, approve them, and they disappear because of computer glitch |

You are correct on how I found orasis' submission by searching his submissions only,by his name, BUT there is no way to search for a submission by title or subject BEFORE it is approved, And here's the kicker...the submissions you guys send in aren't dated UNTIL we approve them.
I didn't design this system.
We support the system. The system is not perfect and neither are we. |

Also Kitteh, It did not take you long to find osirisascend's submission when called out on it, so it would seem you could have checked to see if anyone had already submitted it before you posted it. I also realize that maybe you just looked at osirisascend's submissions, but it still makes sense that if you found something, probably someone else did as well, and may have submitted it. It would seem the site has some mechanism for determining who submitted a post first, so it would seem logical that it would apply to mod posts as well. |
