Well I really wanted to stop watching somewhere after the 2 minute mark....but i ended up finishing it and the 4 minute 2nd part. It was pretty well done and i enjoyed it.

only reason that word has a negative racial connotation is because the blacks LET it have a negative connotation. Blacks and other non-whites have been trying to "make fun" and insult whites using words like "cracker" and "gringo," etc, for a while, but we don't give a F**K; therefore it has no connotation. If blacks quit caring about that word, it'll lose all meaning. Get on it! |

@ Samsquanch...Acadians were forced on boats and put out to sea, some of those boats went to Louisiana as it was French territory at the time,Some went to Louisbourg( Cape Breton Island) as it was a French Fort, Some even ran off into the woods and ended up in what is now New Brunswick and slowly made there way to quebec...

Angilion: I see your point, it is all BS. But we still see Caucasian on forms. Personally I'm a mutt so I guess I shouldn't care. For some reason the word African American has always bugged me when describing a race. The whole combination of two continents thing just sounds so silly to me. |

Isn't Negro just the proper word for a black person, like Caucasian is the proper term for a white person.
I think you can't meaningfully talk about proper words for such an inaccurate concept.
'Negro' means 'black'. That's wrong on two major counts. Firstly, defining a person solely by the colour of their skin is silly. Secondly, the large majority of the people it's used for don't have black skin.
'Caucasian' means 'from the Caucasus', a region straddling the border between Europe and Asia. Which obviously isn't true for the large majority of people sometimes even less accurately called 'white'.
Since it's all bollocks, I think the idea of proper words for it just doesn't apply. |

The earliest known case of Political Correctness that's what. Even though it's technically correct, as is caucasian for whites, blacks didn't like it. They preferred to be called Afro-Americans. How many hear are old enough to remember Afro-americans? haha!
Then Afro got changed to African and here we are.
But to be politically correct, I refer to myself as mixed race.
My mother is caucasion but my daddy is white.

You know what really puzzles me is what happened to the word NEGRO? I remember when I was a kid we used to see commercials for The United Negro College Fund, and forms used to have a box for Negro, just like they have one for Caucasian. But today this word has almost vanished from use. Isn't Negro just the proper word for a black person, like Caucasian is the proper term for a white person.
This is probably the worst place to pose this question but if anyone knows why this is please tell me. |
