I don't mind her message but I stopped watching after I heard a lot about "me, my, I" in a really dramatic tone. It's about MLK. Maybe she added that at the end? Oh wait, watched the end...not a bad message...too whispyish voiced for me to endure though.

How touching =] She's so brave for doing that! I'm sure she influenced some other people in that crowd to accept themselves as well.

She should turn away from the mike to breathe like Tay Zonday, but somehow I feel that she revels in the dramatic way her breath sounds over the PA. Look at me, I'm making a statement and putting it on youtube so I become a gay icon. The press will eat it up. Just what every liberal non-nice individual does. I'm saving the whales, I'm saving the earth, bring home the troops, shut down chicken farms in favor of free range. Why don't one of you figure out how to solve the national debt instead of trying to get your five minutes of fame by championing some politically correct horsecrap. I know, I know, my i-a-b icon is accurate. You're still all PC pussies.

Wonderful. I hope her parents are proud of her.

For those saying she should keep it to herself, she chose to come out publicly like this in order to send a message to other gay teens. It wasn't about her. It wasn't about the attention. It was about showing others that they're not alone, and it's okay to be who they are.

YugureKage "oh, sarcasm... clever. The theme for her school was blah, blah blah, inspired by MLK. So blah, blah blah. He had the courage to stand up for blah, blah blah, so she has the courage to blah, blah blah, prejudice, blah, blah, blah, gay and lesbians!

The rest of what you said was just more scrambled bitch-brain nonsense.

Hey wait a minute...did you write this chicks speech?

As I have given my time to write this (my time being inherently more valuable than yours), I hope my note does not fall to deaf ears. In summary, Blam the Bitch, MY TIME IS WORTH MORE. Ohh BTW sirry bitch, Big Man Martin was black, not a drating fagot, grow up, learn the incredible discipline of 'ignoring people' to disregard. Lastly, grow a pair. Society wasn't setup as your mirror, you were, regard comes from within, that large a stake in others opinions is simply weakness. Break the silence, now it drating broken, how about, "Shut the drat up", better ring to it. PEACE. LONG LIVE I-AM-BORED!

Don't come by often, stupid poo comments stopped in tracks however. "Gays do not have the same rights as everyone else" where's it say that then? No mention of gays let alone marriage in the Constitution. There never was a right to marriage specified to anyone. Here's a point from Schr0dinger (the astute geeks among you will have felt real relation to that name) however, "At least she made it all about her and not the great man that the day was set aside for." Perhaps to the more pissbrained of you, listening to this drone may seem uplifting, even spiritual in it's experience. The simple fact remains however, to the open minded of us, who were NEVER stupid or unkind enough to persecute another individual for this, it is an epic waste of our time, our sole set and inreplenishable commodity on earth. Such a pathetic spiel should be saved for the more dull amongst you, I, and others, are undeserving of such incessant, and today, pervasive complaints.

That was one of the bravest things I've seen in a long time. Yeah, she probably did practice and rehearse her speech, all public speakers do.

Gays do not have the same rights as everyone else. I'm sorry folks but that is a fact, not an opinion. I applaud her bravery, her honesty, her fortitude. I sincerely hope that one day she can marry her true love, officially in the eyes of the law. I hope that she will live to see a time when she will not be denied access to her dying partner in the hospital because she is not "legally" family. I hope that she will be able to receive her partners pension after they pass, or be covered for medical costs under her partner's health insurance as her spouse. I wish for these things because right now in many states she would not be able to. This is equality?

@yugurekage exactly this!

The way she talked was super annoying though :\ She sounded like a preacher O.o (not that she was preaching, just the cadence of her voice and stuff)

"At least she made it all about her and not the great man that the day was set aside for." oh, sarcasm... clever. The theme for her school was breaking the silence, inspired by MLK. So that is what she did. He had the courage to stand up for the rights of African Americans, so she has the courage to stand up for LGBT people. I see her speech as a way to honor MLK's memory and his message. "I have a dream" pertains to everyone who has ever felt oppressed by society, including racism, sexism, and every other kind of discrimination and prejudice.
