Steelgrid, it's got everything to do with old-style printing. It's called halftone printing, and it used dots of a limited number colors (typically 4, I believe) to create the illusion of shades and other colors. |

Has nothing to do with old style printing...this was an actualy art style of drawing comics. I for one believed this should have won the IAB costume contest for its simple act of originality. |
