Wednesday, September 23, 2009 8:19:41 PM http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/may/18/digital-content-expansionHmmm. Article says the internet is about 500 billion gigabytes. That's 500 exabytes. |

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 7:48:21 PM supergrove, there's far far far more than several thousand gigs. A thousand gigs is a terabyte. Do you really think there's only several terabytes, when I can buy a 1Tb external hardrive for less than £100?There must be billions and billions of Tb by now. |

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 3:49:55 PM I'd think it would be more, to be honest. Maybe if we're only counting text. |

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 5:09:22 AM The six minute time is what it would take for everyone to turn on their printer and start printing, not what it would take for one person to turn on their printer and start printing. That number is 3,805 years. So, if you take all the printers in the world, I'm guessing, and use that number to divide into 3,805 years, you end up with 6 minutes and change PER PRINTER.Also, It's not meant to be accurate, for all the reasons that have been pointed out. Just to give you an idea of how much data is out there. Don't read too much into it. |

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 4:26:08 AM Even if everyone in the U.S. were to print out a portion, surely porn alone would still take a couple of days. |

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 2:02:57 AM "... printed the Internet?" That makes no sense. The internet is not the text that pops up in the window when you click the little blue E on your desktop. |

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 9:52:55 PM if you take the average printer that most people have in their home, it will print a page in 10 seconds???.... 6 minutes and 36 seconds equals 39.6 pages. point of the pictures is its a ***dam advertisement meant to point out that everyone in the ***dam country has one of these inkjet printers. or they just want you to think their printers are better then ancient printing techniques...... one of the two. |

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 9:18:47 PM Well this certainly raises a question. Consider a one-page text document, and an uncompressed TGA image that would, at reasonable detail, fit on one page. Obviously, the text document is astronomically smaller than the TGA image. It's very confusing what their conversion factor for data->pages is, considering that you can fit a variable amount of data on one page! Also, what font size would the text documents be printed at? There's really no standard... Also, consider printing speeds. There's no way they could have taken the average speed of all printers- even if they did, would they have weighted it by the relative amounts of that printer in use? This is, of course, assuming that printer technology completely stagnates during these 3805 years and that additions to the Internet are not considered. Sorry but I have to call BS. Simply too much lack of information. |

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 8:47:31 PM "That's alot of porn... If you printed out a video would it come out as one of those flip books?"I think it would be more of a fap book. However, that would be at least a three-handed job. You'd have to get somebody to flip if for you (or fap it for you). |

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 7:22:11 PM Well since the internet is constantly changing wouldn't it change as we print meaning we would be printing forever? Not to mention it is always expanding, as is the number of printers in the world... But this is good to know |

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 7:21:13 PM it would be easier if everyone else did this apart from US. We could always get China to do it, its cheaper and easier that way |
