Tuesday, September 22, 2009 12:25:20 AM in #2, they kinda made a false conclusion of the study they presented. the conclusion is that after studying new material you should give it time to sink in. if you decided to spend only the two hours before the test to study for your biochem exam, then you're screwed buddy. but if you spent the whole week studying and keep on doing it "right up until time for the exam" then you'll do just fine. i use the last hour before any test to just catch bits of information that seem important. things that i an certain that would be erased from my brain just as i lose concentration. it sometimes helps :)and i'm totally gonna try #5... |

Monday, September 21, 2009 9:21:56 PM Lion, it's based off some horribly paraphrased quote of him explaining that at any given time, there is probably no more than 10% of our brain active. So yeah... bollocks, like Dan said. |

Monday, September 21, 2009 8:14:27 PM > 'Someone once said we only use about 10% of our brains'That person was supposedly Einstein, and you'll find it on just about every Urban Legends site under the Total BS Every Idiot Somehow Believes When Its Patently Untrue category. |

Monday, September 21, 2009 6:26:43 PM you know we use all of our brains. we use 10 percent for thinking, the rest is doing all the things that our body needs to be doing. like pumping our heart, or controlling our reflexes |

Monday, September 21, 2009 5:46:24 PM 'Someone once said we only use about 10% of our brains'Well that someone was talking bollocks. We use all of our brain, just not all at the same time. It has different regions that control various aspects of our emotions, thoughts, movements, relationships, senses etcetera. |

Monday, September 21, 2009 4:47:05 PM I tried the powernaps for a little while. I got to the point where I could go from totally awake to snoring in 3 minutes. I would think "damn I have to wake up in 30 min...snore". eventually I quit because I like sleeping. A sleep diet is about as fun as any other diet is. |

Monday, September 21, 2009 4:24:22 PM I'm totally trying all of this, except the nap schedule. Learn from Kramer people, it's not gonna work. |

Monday, September 21, 2009 4:24:08 PM One of Cracked's weaker efforts. Usually they are such sticklers about gettting the science right, but this time, well, I'm not going to bother to repeat what previous posters said, but those of you who have posted here at IAB are right. And why is false memory (#1 on their list) considered "more" brainpower? Seems like LESS brainpower if we can't remember fact from fiction. Shame on them for not crediting Elizabeth Loftus, BTW. |

Monday, September 21, 2009 4:19:31 PM we don't use 10% of our brains, but only certain parts of our brains wuld logically be used at the same time, so its not like applying yourself will ever get you anywhere close to 100 |

Monday, September 21, 2009 3:32:48 PM No-one who knows anything at all about the subject would say that we only use about 10% of our brains. Nor would anyone who gives the matter any thought unless they are a creationist. |

Monday, September 21, 2009 3:14:39 PM "I find it works best not to try to conjure something in your dream, but rather think about it and believe it will be somewhere and then go there. So I don't conjure a naked woman. I believe she's around that corner and I walk there. Or I'll fly to her house, which is good fun in itself. Word to the wise, lucid dreams often fade quickly so I suggest you take off your pants in mid-flight so you'll be ready when you get there."I tend to do that quite a bit in real life as well. |
