I LOVE video games and have played since the old Turbo Graffix days (Anyone remember that console or am I too old LOL). Currently I have a Wii, PSP, Gameboy, PS3 and a desktop for games.. Laptop for everything else. My husband just won't play the consoles with me anymore. He hates losing HA! |

Um, whoa whoa whoa. I hardly ever comment on here, but I had to correct you guys. I am a girl. I play video games. I'm good at them. I enjoy them. My favorite thing to do is get with a bunch of my guyfriends and play games. Halo, Rock Band, Tales of Vesperia, Oblivion, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Super Smash Bros... I'll play just about anything. So don't go saying girls don't like video games. |

How do people not know what NPR is? This is kind of frightening. Also I'm pretty sure the videogame thing is false. Girls are terrible at and have no interest in video games. Even the nerdy ones. |

#1: Know where to look. - Agreed.
#2: It helps to look like this guy: - Yes. HELL yes.
#3: Read lots of books. - If you don't, I'll make you.
#4: Don’t slack off on your video game skills. - Beating me at Left4Dead isn't difficult (F my lack of Xbox!), but when Mario Kart/SSBB comes up, it's Serious Business. Also, Tales/FF are musts.
#5: Listen to NPR. - Wait, what the drat is NPR?
Tip #6: Be interesting. - Isn't that the main requirement for a relationship, ever?
#7: Know your pop culture references. - If you do not know, you will be indoctrinated. And if you know a nerd reference that I don't, I'll watch it with you.
#8: Compliment her by saying, “You remind me so much of Liz Lemon.†- Nice, but since I don't know who that is, the effect is pretty much lost.
#9: Embrace her collectibles. - Sure.
#10: Be willing to go to conventions. - Eh, too many people.

It's amazing that even among nerds, you still have to be cool. It goes to show that in every social group or sub-culture, there is still a heirarchy. You may think you're not like everyone else because you like different things or label yourself as nerdy, but you still judge others and place them in a category based on the standards that define your own little social group.At the geekiest comic book convention in the world there were still be a group of cool people and a group of losers. |
