According to Family Guy, Keith is the worst male name in the English language. So...I guess you might as well end your misery right now. :'(

If anyone's interested, here's a site that provides a quiz (link at the bottom) for you to enter what you think about a name. This link goes to all the statistics, proving that stereotyping for this does, in fact, exist.
http://www.namenerds.com/cgi-bin/career....
I know I stereotype names all the time... I just can't hear a name like "Chip" without thinking "douche bag/jock" or a name like "Candy" without thinking "slut."

"Old and overweight: Dolores"

That's quite funny because I happen to know someone named Dolores who is in fact old and overweight. So I guess she was pre-destined to turn out that way because of her name. Thanks, Dolores' mom.

My name isn't so bad, I suppose. It's a fairly normal name, though there are a few extra letters on the end that make it look French. XP If French equals refined, looks like I'm all right for now, though I am really one of the least refined people I know. =/

I will NEVER hire anyone named 'Jayden', or anything that rhymes with it.

So I guess if one's name is Maria Lupita Gonzalez Alverez Diaz the fourth...unemployment is in your future...? there is some truth in that discrimination though.

That so funny. On one of them it says, "A jerk" name "Ace" I have a friend called Ace... She's a jerk.

Also, is everyone on this list over 80?!

I don't agree with thus statement in the article.

"Because of this, I wonder if to give your kid an edge in life, that you should consider more conventional and ordinary names?"

Conventional and ordinary names usually suck. Almost everyone I know who has ordinary names hate their name, including me. My mother wanted to name me Ruby or Daisy. Both names I think are adorable and pretty but Ruby would've been my choice. Instead she went with one of the most popular names at the time...Ashley. Now if you know me I'm no Ashley. I despise my name more than anything, I wish I could change my name to Ruby. You can have "unique" names without being way out there.

When I have a son his name is going to be Lucian and if I have a daughter i'm a bit partial to the name Lithia but still not sure yet. And that's MY decision. You can always get your name changed if you dont like it and want to shell out the dough for it.

Steve (me) wasn't in the Positive or Negative categories?? Probably because it's such an awesome name that both lists weren't "for real" enough. ;D

How's this for a name? I took a call from a black lady, who had named her daughter Latrina. Yeah, that poor kid's going far.

Also, in the US Edward is more often shortened to Ed. I can only think of one exception - Ted Kennedy. Ted usually shortened from Theodore, although Theodore is sometimes shortened to Theo.

That's the great thing about English names; many of them have multiple forms:

Robert = Rob, Robby, Bob, Bobby
Richard = Rich, Richy, Rick, Ricky, Dick, Dicky
William = Will, Willy, Bill, Billy
Elizabeth = Liz, Lizzy, Beth, Betsy
Margaret = Marge, Margy, Meg

A girl where I worked said she was going to name her son Roman. I said I thought it would suck to be stuck with a goofy name like that. I told her to imagine her son in 50 years interviewing to be the CFO of a Fortune 500 company, and the other two candidates were named William and Margaret. She ended up naming her son Robert.

Ha. I think it's great IAB is still using Chad. I'm pretty sure it started as a random caption, and someone made a comment about how that was weird, so now it's used to spite that person? Goodstuff.

Here's the part I don't follow - they had separate listings for "Ed" and "Edward" - are they not the same name?
