Skating in the 70's was almost as big a business as it is now. There were literally thousands of skateparks all over the world, most decent sized towns had one. I skated in the 80's though and insurance rates had pretty much killed all the parks by then, needless to say much wood was pilfered from local construction sites for ramps. Kids now days have a lot of choice as far as terrain, so they're very lucky as far as that goes. |

Lion... you and I are the same age... Some of these kids here are talking smack about us old timers of course... Seems they've forgotten that OUR generation pioneered skating as it is today... and we did it with narrow boards, no less. |

This makes me want to rummage around in the basement and dig out my ancient Logan Earth Ski skateboard (circa 1982, before they widened skateboards so much that ANY schmuck with minimal balance could pull off rudimentary tricks).
On second thought, maybe I'll just leave it down there and cherish the memories as opposed to doing something that would most likely end up with me shattering several of my 40+ year-old bones...
... ah memories. |

lol watch some rodney mullen from the early 80's.. he invented most of the tricks the guys do today and he still does em better. The ollie, the kickflip, heelflip.... and i'd run out of the 1k limit if i were to name em all. this is one of his later vids from 90's but still alot better than i see from other street/flatland skaters.
