anybody notice that with the prohibition of these drugs it directly increased the amount of violence in todays society? they should all be legal. let people make their own choices! |

I went to a historical event here in our city and they actually had these "medicines" on display. Quite interesting what they used in the past. This is another reason I just adore history. Also, yes - Perfection is correct. Coca Cola was made with coca leaves and they got away with it for years. Their sales were through the roof! |

i remember getting some super strong cough medicine from my doctor when I was little. And I swear my mom used to say it had just a little bit of cocaine in it, and that I should never take too much. Well.. short story shorter, I ended up having a horrible "cough" every couple of hours and needed more medicine. |

When a coca leaf is chewed it numbs the mouth and gives a fairly pleasurable feeling. Cacao leaves on the other hand are what chocolate is derived from. |

i work in a pharmacy and some of these are still used today, just not in the quantities they had here...all that ritalin and adderall are amphetamines, we sell opium tinctures, etc so this article didnt surprise me....eh |

@ bumbleBB: calm down. I am a senior in college and still sometimes make basic grammar mistakes. I also know a lot of people who have taken more than 3 English courses and still sound like idiots. Don't let one correction of your grammar ruin your day. |

Sacrito, If I proof read everything I off handedly typed on the internet I'd probably have an annoying personality like you. Don't preach grammar to me, because it's easy to make a mistake. Just so you know kid, I have 3 university english classes under my belt and I got 100% on the last english final I wrote. But hey, if you feel superior to me because you're capable of making corrections to an impromptu bit of script, you hold onto that. You're gonna need it. |

The second one is no big deal. Coca Wine is simply wine made with Cocoa leaves just like cocoa tea and the original Coca-Cola and it has no narcotic effects whatsoever just like cocoa tea and original Coca-Cola. It doesn't mean it has cocaine in it.
