Offer gladly accepted. And I'm sorry your brother's church has taken that stance. I hope your brother finds a place where he is accepted as a beloved child of God.

I'm sure I have been unclear or haven;t chosen my words as well as I could-you only get 1000 chars. to try to say something. This is a poor forum for debate and this 2-dimensional medium lends itself to misinterpretation easily.

Peace be with you...

Maybe I misread you. My brother is a homosexual and is having many struggles, including being ostracised from his own church here in Ireland.

Look, as dead as this thread is and it's only us left, maybe we got off on the wrong foot. Can I extend the olive-branch of peace? No ulterior motive intended.

Funny thing is, I never once said that anyone was going to hell in any of my posts. Assume what you will. I think your presumptions are based on your understaqnding of Christianity--which mirrors what you call the "Midwest Christian" viewpoint. I, am a fruit off a different tree. I have been to fundamental Christian churches and usually disagree with their mindset. I believe firmly that Jesus was the Christ--but the title "Christian" would not fit me because I strongly disagree with the modern Christian church. O, I get lumped into the category, but my beliefs are very different. Yes I believe parts of the Bible are accurate. NO I don;t believe it is all divinely inspired and I actually hold a lot of contempt for Paul, the self-appointed Apostle and will not hold his writings up as God's word. This places me at odds with most of Christianity today... Please don't presume that a Christ follower is a bible-thumping right wing traditionalist evangelical Christi

And yet you presume to sit there and judge (yeah, got it, Jesus is doing the judging, not you), that everyone who is not of your particular faith is going to burn in hell for eternity.

I don't have an intolerance for Christianity. Hell, I'm a recovering Born-Again Christian myself (100% true story, echoing with your "recovering homosexual" anecdote). I have an intolerance for any belief system which would label other people as inherently sinful for such heinous practices as being born gay, or born into another religion in another part of the world. Sorry bub, eternal hellfire for you. Unless you convert to my team, of course.

Anyways, this thread is dead. See you on the next debate.

All I have is an intolerance for is intolerance. I'm all about inclusiveness. I presume (as you are a devout Christian) that in your world view, anyone who is not saved by the Lord Jesus Christ (i.e. Christian) is going to burn in hell for all eternity, tormented and ravaged by demons for all time. All the atheists, all the Muslims, all the Hindus, all the Jews, all the Zoroastrians, all the traditional Chinese Animists, all the Shintoists, all the sinners (including those sinful homosexuals) who have not come to *your* lord Jesus Christ and asked for forgiveness.

Yeah, I know. You didn't make up the rules.

If you had been born in India, rather than than in the Christian Miswest, you'd be a Hindu. If you were born in the Middle East you'd be a Muslim. If you were born in Scandanavia in the time of the Vikings you'd be worshipping Odin and Thor.

The point, --as much as you like to distort it to suit your anti-Christian agenda-- was that all people are sinners--we are all on even ground--it is ONLY black and white with no grey area. I am as guilty of sin as the most heinous of murderers is, because as I said earlier sin is like a pane of glass--it matters not if you strike it with a hammer or a cannonball it still shatters. YES homosexuality is a sin. YES judgement is a sin. YES lying is a sin. Yes lust is a sin etc etc... When I said they will all be side by side I mean all of humanity will be there. I know that doesn't fit your myopic viewpoint of Christianity--Sorry. Jesus wouldn't fit modern Christianity either.

Davymid you have an intolerance for Christians. If I quote the Bible you bash me. If I say "gays will go to hell" you would bash me. If I say Gays will go to heaven, you bash me. Face it. You just hate Christians. I hope your hypocritical world view gets you somewhere in life, doubt it--it gets you stars on a silly forum where you act like you have authority or something... Wow I guess...

HAHA. God (no pun intended), I-A-B just never misses a chance at a religion war. I think Bayside sums it up best in one of their songs:

Maybe you can trick a lot of them
Maybe if you fool the best of them
The rest will come around

We're all scared
So they dressed you up in all these
Different names
I've gotta find peace with myself
Before I give you all
Before I give you anything at all

I think its funny you've been quiet for so long
When you're quiet no one proves you wrong
And dear your holiness
Your army's safe and sound
They're down here dying for you

Gotta love some anti-God rock. PS. No such thing as a "recovering homosexual", stfu.

Don: Are you really that stupid? He was homosexual but incredibly uncomfortable with it, then he found Jesus and suddenly was not gay anymore? You must realize that the only reason he would ever feel uncomfortable being homosexual is because of the silly prejudice around him. If there was no stigma attached to homosexuality, why would you feel uncomfortable being gay? Suppressing your homosexuality to live up to some religious ideal will not make you happy.

As for what jesus said, he also said that you should despise your family and yourself, but i don't see you quoting that part. Luke 14:26.

He loved them all anyway. The rules are a joke-Jesus himself mocked them. Christians should take note: Jesus came to fulfill the law not enforce it. He came to break the rules, not make more. Jesus proved by his own ACTIONS and words that he didn't buy the religious crap either.

THAT was my point, to those who missed it or wanted to pick a fight instead... Jesus is not about rules or religion--he hates religion. He is about grace. Period. All else is garbage. Religion is man-made and God used it to prove that we don;t need it. WE only need grace and we have it already. Jesus said it and lived by it. Maybe a reread of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John is in order to see his own words...

Jesus said about judgment: Mat 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?

Megido--Jesus saved him. NOT because he became heterosexual, but because he gave his life over-and part of that was, in his mind and heart, changing his sexuality because HE wasn't comfortable with it. It was a problem to him, so in his heart he had to make a change for himself.

As for "Think our way or burn in hell, how very friendly. Jesus saves all. Except those who don't blindly follow his rule" I never said that--and NEITHER DID JESUS. I am sure 100% that there will be homosexual people in heaven alongside murderers, thieves, prostitutes, drug abusers, you name it--it will be there. Why? GRACE. No human is perfect--all fall short, all have sinned. Every person alive will surely die and those who have accepted the grace of God (not the religious crap espoused in Westboro, or any other Baptist Church for that matter) will be in heaven alongside Jesus.
Look at Jesus' life: he hung out with the "dirty", the outcast, the "unclean". He lov

Davymid- be repulsed. I am only repeating his description of his own life--sorry if his life offends you.

Stop deliberately twisting my words to represent your sick world-view. His life doesn't offend me, you offend me. You know perfectly well what I said.

Another way of looking at the homosexuality thing is that this "recovering" homosexual is forcing himself to not be homosexual because he believes that it is wrong, a prejudice advocated by fundie christians. Perhaps he would be a happier person if he could live as he wanted to, and as he is, rather than by rules dictaded 2000 years ago by what i would have to call bigots. Even saying that there is such a thing as "recovery" from homosexuality is utter bigotry, because as far as i'm concerned it's not a choice and it's not "treatable" by any other means than brainwashing. Think our way or burn in hell, how very friendly. Jesus saves all. Except those who don't blindly follow his rule. Sweet.
