Tuesday, July 07, 2009 1:41:48 AM "Explain yourself, Maddog. There is nothing wrong with reidcook's grammar, other than he forgot to capitalize the first letter of a sentence, and maybe a missed comma, and SO WHAT if he did? Believe me, I'm the worst grammar Nazi of them all and I found nothing grammatically wrong with reidcook's post. reidcook's post is NOT ironic since it contains NO legitimate grammatical mistakes.Grammar Nazi FAIL" you just said there were two things wrong with it gramatically, and then said that nothing was wrong with it gramatically.. if you are gonna say that at least make your mind up on what your opinion is first..o.O |

Tuesday, July 07, 2009 12:12:57 AM Crabcake if you looked and read closely you would have known that it said "The 42-year-old lost his left eye and was totally blinded in the right 12 years ago..." Therefore he has no left eye in which to do the surgery. He had a right eye but it was blind. That's why they could do one eye and not the other ebcause the other wasn't there. |

Monday, July 06, 2009 7:20:00 PM to crabcake: I think the article said that his right or left i can't recall it was lost and on the other he was blinded, so they could only do one eye because I guess it was the only one that was left after the accident. |

Monday, July 06, 2009 7:08:21 AM Wont his light receptive nerves fry because he doesn't have an iris any more? and how can his vision be as sharp as ever if the lens cant be adjusted like a normal eye does? (is it focused at read distance or for far away?) So many questions remain. |

Monday, July 06, 2009 2:04:36 AM This article is the most abysmally horrible piece of news written in human history.FIRST off the guy was blind because the clear lens of his eye was hit by molten aluminum and became opaque. A tooth was not inserted into his eye socket at all, it was molded into his existing eye which was mildly damaged. Also nothing was inserted into his cheek for THREE months to grow. A section of skin was removed from his cheek and grafted onto his eye and allowed to heal for TWO months so that the tooth would have protection and a sturdy place to latch onto. Also his ENTIRE tooth was not removed just a part of it. It was used to hold a man made lens. SO: cheek tissue > holds tooth > holds lens. Further proof that this article is the worst piece of news written from an AP fact sheet ever. "Mr Jones had his tooth was" This is actually a sentence from the article. Check out a well written report on the same thing: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1197256 |

Monday, July 06, 2009 12:04:53 AM Internet disease examples for the future psychologist tour- here we stop at the IAB forums underneath posts. No matter what goes on, you will see examples of horrible outbursts of internet Aspergers and Munchausen syndrome here. OCPD as well, with the grammar check. Prime examples indeed my friends. |

Sunday, July 05, 2009 11:02:43 PM Landogrifinand other posters, apparently. They used his tooth as a seed to grow the necessary tissue and then, yes, they had the optical lens on said tissue. However, he can still see because of his tooth. I don't see how the headline is a fail. The headline is a perfect example of a headline. It's not meant to provide a clear picture, but to provide some base for interest in the article topic. If you were mislead by the headline, then you probably had an entirely different idea going through your head. I knew what the basis of the article was, but I wanted to know how they used his tooth in the process. Cheers to the man. Finally getting to see the woman he loves. |

Sunday, July 05, 2009 10:00:56 PM I agree with the previous posters who say the description was misleading. It's not that he claims to see with his tooth, rather, there is an optical lens which delivers an electric signal through the nerve from his tooth, and that nerve connects to the optic nerve leading to the brain. So, he sees with the optical lens, which isn't unusual at all, since an eyeball is basically just that. Headline fail. |
