Brilliant line, thanks for bringin it up. If science can clam this, then I think I might have ta rethink their theory on evolution and the big bang.

well of COURSE playing a video game is better and more involving than watching tv. that one's a big "duh." but that doesn't mean it's necessarily GOOD for you.

I used to play DDR a lot and actually loose some weight, but then I don't know what happened and I have no clue where that thing went... Hmmm...

Video Game are good for you. They taught me to jump hard on every turtle I see, and mushrooms make me taller. And ever since I started playing, I've seen small blue mammals run really fast in my front yard.

@DIETY They've made DDR for the X-Box and Playstation. It is more engaging, more fun, and rythmatic. It is like [What most people do...] listen to some form of music when they are running on a treadmill. Why not DANCE instead? Seems more interactive and fun. At my junior high, it was required during that week of P.E. to play DDR. Sure, sometimes you looked like a fool in front of everyone, but everyone got involved and had fun, and no one was actually put down. It raises competition levels in a friendly way, at least, in my opinion and observation.

Wii may not be all the exercise filled if you play...barely.
I mean if you are playing a game where the wii controller is a sword and you sit down and twirl your wrist...than yeah...No exercise.
BUT IF YOU PLAY LIKE I DO: Run around and dodge unneededly, pretend its and actual sword, and play it like real life. It is really exercise.
SO there...

All of these (except maybe 5) only prove that games are better than any other sedentary activity.

We're going to have to come up with something better to boost our arsenal if we want to have any chance of defeating the evil anti-videogame armies.

Why woul you look like an a-hole in front of a bunch of people in a mall to get exercise (I know they make it for the PS2, not my point)when you can run on a treadmill and watch T.V. in a gym.

I would agree that video games increase hand eye coordination for sure, and reaction time.

They forgot to mention how certain games like Garry's Mod can teach you real-world engineering and programming.

I have a Wii and I don't think it really qualifies as exercise. If you are worn out after playing Wii you probably need to work out a little more.

I've never tried Wii Fit, but I'm not sure it really counts in this argument. That's more exercise than game. That's like saying watching TV is good for you as long as you're following along with an exercise tape while you do it.

When I was younger (1980's) my sister had eye surgery. The doctor prescribed that she play nintendo tennis to strengthen her eyes and her hand eye coordination.

All I remember was being kicked off the nintendo because the doctor said my sister had to play... man was I pissed.

Well I remember hearing about this one video game that went off of some brain wave you emitted, and you emit less of it when you're focused. So the less you emit, the faster you ride this bike and win a race... apparently it's great for kids with ADHD.

If I knew the name of the video game I wouldn't sound so crazy. :\

Hehe. I agree with some parts of that article cause I've seen the changes to myself.
For example, WoW requires people to be able to verbally communicate with 25 people in order to reach a 'goal', be it a boss kill or dungeon raid. And it can be quite fun talking to so many different people you don't even know for hours on end. To be honest, I met my boyfriend through that game and now we've been dating for almost 2 years and we see eachother nearly daily.

I used to play DDR, too, and if that's not the best piece of exercise equipment I don't know what is. Using DDR only, I would loose 10-20lbs each summer without trying. I'd start off at 130lbs and by the end of the summer I'd be 110.
I <3 DDR. Interval training at it's finest.
