Thursday, June 18, 2009 3:09:54 AM Greyed: you can take off when the wind is going in any direction, taking off heading into the wind is preferable but not necessary as for the gust of wind, if you look at the vertical stabilizer (tail for most people) you can tell that its not turned in the direction that he went, do you research before being a douche -_- |

Tuesday, June 16, 2009 8:37:26 AM Even funnier, the news story says it was a gust of wind at the last minute. Let's see, watching the video again, the lake's chop is moving left to right, the spray from the floats is moving left to right, the trees are swaying left to right, the foliage when the plan gets close is swaying left to right. So the wind "gusted" for the entire runup and crash from left to right which is why the windsock was pointing to the right when the plane nearly took the cameraman's head. I think his notion of "gust" is a tad different than the rest of the world's. |

Tuesday, June 16, 2009 8:30:33 AM Heh, I see why he failed to take off. Pause the video at 52 seconds. Who the hell takes a general aviation aircraft and tries to take off into a 90 degree wind? Basic aviation 101, folks, you take off INTO the wind, not with it blowing across your wings killing your lift. /facepalm |

Monday, June 15, 2009 10:01:23 PM Judging by that kid's reaction, I'm gonna guess he lives at the end of the runway at a flight school. |
