It now looks VERY unlikely that I'll be deployed again, so my discharge and retirement are imminent.

They'll make all the requisite overtures, tell me if I stick around for another three years they'll give me the pretty star in the middle of my stripes, and by year three I'll make CSM. (I already have completed all my work at USASMA, but the promotion will not happen if I don't re-enlist)

But it's been a long and rewarding 21 years, and I'm ready to just be a regular Joe again.

In answer to your question, there aren't any active duty Army bases here in Minnesota. I do my checking in, saluting, and administrative BS at the Army Reserve Center attached to the Minnesota Air National Guard base here in the TC, and there's another reserve center in a town called Olivia about an hour away.

And for the record, I do know my geography well enough to be fully aware that Great Britain is comprised of England, Scotland, and Wales, and for that matter, the official title for the U.K. is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
