The amount of heat required to boil the water contained in the endosperm in that short a time would be high enough to easily burn the popcorn. This is fake for sure. Scientifically impossible. |

And the puffed out cheeks is one of the worst bits of After Effects editing I have ever seen... you can see he just blows his mouth out, and uses his tounge to look like its bursting. doesnt need any effects, dont even see him put the corn in his mouth, does it all too quick to be real |

popcorn takes ages to heat up and pop. needs to be hot enough for the moisture inside the corn to expand and pressurize. try it with a lighter, it takes some time. |

Mythbusters did an episode on popcorn myths. Explosions didn't cause the kernels to pop, so it's just about impossible that merely spitting them through a fire would. Definitely fake, but nicely done all the same. |
