drug abuse and gang violence are not cultural values. They are a symptom of poverty.

Well as long as there is racism on both sides we have equality, right?

As far as the idea of Hispanic or Latino conquest of the south western states, It will not happen. By the time enough generations of Hispanics have propagated to have a majority, they will no longer be Hispanic, they will be American.

Most of the Latino kids I know hardly speak Spanish, they certainly aren't planning to teach it to their children, they are attending schools speaking English, working at jobs speaking English and they are sharing in predominantly European cultural values.

My primary concern with an influx of Mexican or Latino people is this, you can see the current condition of their countries of Origin, do they want to escape that and participate in a much better lifestyle here, or is the plan to make America a s#it stew like Mexico?

I can't guess why people would want to escape misery only to bring it with them, but from the influx of drugs and gangs, it looks to be the case.

lol freemasons and skull and bones are not white groups (i know of people who aren't white who are freemasons for example, and skull and bones society is secret..so its a very far reach to say they are all white, let alone you know who is a bonesman). nice try though

Even the SF chronicle ran an OP Ed saying she was a horrible choice.

So...based upon that fact alone, and forgetting Tancredo...I know she's a bad choice.

White people already have groups. Freemasons ring a bell? Skull and Bones?

dairy: you are correct Hispanic is not a race. He it is a culture although it is often confused with the race here in the United States.

If anyone is interested:
National Council of La Raza is a civil right's group. Judge for yourself at http://www.nclr.org/

"frumgf, if you enjoy @$$holes so much, why don't you kiss mine?"

OldOllie, that comment insulted someone that made a brash comment without thinking of the repercussions of her statement.

Or how the kids say today...OldOllie, WIN!

LillianDulci, can you cite a single example of a group dedicated to advancing the interests of white people that is NOT considered racist?

outfire, that cartoonist, Sean Delonas, has not been nominated for a lifetime appointment to the Unites States Supreme Court. Besides, considering that Obama was NOT the author if the stimulus bill, the only connection between the ape in the cartoon and Obama was strictly in the minds of the racist liberals who were howling about it.

"So you're implying that an organization for the advancement of white people would not be considered racist?"

I didn't imply it, I said it directly. Also, reverse racism would be taking racism away and making it nonexistent, thus reversing the racism. Racism is racism no matter which races are involved.

CrakrJak, if Sotomayor is confirmed, they'll have to replace the Supreme Court's statue of Blind Justice with one showing her peeking under the blindfold and putting her thumb on the scale.

"Nope. There are many ways to strengthen America and advancing white families would also be a way, the motto isn't saying that advancing Latino families is the only thing that strengthens America. That group just happens to focus on Latino families which isn't a problem. You can't expect one group to solve the problems of every group.
Once again, morons trying to take things out of context and twist things around to make her seem racist. The ones who do this are mainly the ones that are extremely racist in the first place (i.e. Rush)."

------------
So you're implying that an organization for the advancement of white people would not be considered racist? Seriously? There would be rioting in the streets and Al Sharpton would be working overtime. Reverse racism is real, and people are simply taking Ms. Sotomayor to task on it. Nothing wrong with that. She DID make a racist remark.

It's funny how conservatives and Republicans who have never uttered a racist word in their lives are routinely slandered and smeared as racists, yet when a minority makes blatantly racist statements, and belongs to an overtly racist group, anyone who points this out and objects to her being elevated to one of the most powerful positions in the country is called...you guessed it: "racist."

All these so-called moderate Republicans are saying they should take the high road. Well, answer me this: When has taking the high road ever helped the Republicans, and when had taking the low road ever hurt the Democrats?

Doesn't seem racist to me, i always took it as she was saying that she had more experience than say a rich white man that had never seen real social issues, but ok. doesn't strike me as any more racist than that comic about the stimulus package a while ago. Comic

"She said her judgement as a Latina woman would be better than that of a white male. "
Way to summarize and take completely outta context, that isn't what she meant at all. That was discussed here already though so I wont repeat it ;)

"Replace Latino families with white families. Then it becomes racist, correct?"
Nope.
Rush). They must find everything they can wrong with the woman because they don't like her race.

"I hate the racist morons who keep bashing Sotomayor for no reason :/ BTW the actual motto is "Strengthening America by promoting the advancement of Latino families." Ooh how racist~"

Replace Latino families with white families. Then it becomes racist, correct? Exactly. In a truly race-equal society, race based organizations and affirmative action do not exist. The creation of any race-based organization is, by definition, racist, because it is aiming to advance one race over the other.

An truly neutral and non-bias organization that looks out for racial equality (of all races), for example, would NOT be racist.

There's a difference.

prime, if what you say is true, that you are hispanic (IF THAT IS INDEED EVEN A REAL RACE) prove it by answering me these questions three:

1) WHAT is the name of the inventor of the burrito?
2) WHO was the first hispanic person to hispanise on the good ship 'The Hispaniola' in 1884 HP??
3) WHOM is the famous hispanic biologist whose middle name you can create from the first five letters of the word 'Latino'???

Yours truly, The bridge guardian.
