Remember that one cop who was the emergency dispatcher and he wouldn't send an ambulance for that girl's dad because she swore? Yeah, he only got like 2 weeks unpaid leave? What a joke.

This is a joke too. Police officers are human too. They have egos and make mistakes, but if your job involves protecting the lives of other people, then explain to me how a 2 week vacation is a reminder to pull your head out of your ass? These guys won't be punished. The government protects its own.

The patient was not dying, Lights and sirens were not activated on the way to the hospital. Ambulances cannot break the law and rarely save lives. If it were my mother then she was dead already.

I am an experienced Paramedic with 6 years of EMT experience and 11 years of Paramedic experience.

Link_Hlel you are a foolish child and you know nothing, grow up, read my post again and talk to me later.

Police, emts, firemen, etc are all charged with the responsibility of protection of human life. For the cops to do anything to impede that is ridiculous. Those cops should be fired, I'm sure there are other people who would gladly take their place and act as a police officer should.

The Highway patrol was retarded, You don't pull over a speeding ambulance on it's way to the hospital, you escort it to the hospital, let them hand off the patient to the hospital staff, and then you confront the EMT... That is freaking retarded. if the patient dies, then there would be hell to pay.

Think at what we have seen police officers do just in the past six months. Shoot a kid in the head while unarmed and restrained. Beat a baptist minister for not getting out of his vehicle, beat a man who was unconscious already, tazer a man dozens of times who was having a seizure, hold a man trying to see his dying mother and on and on... If you don't get some kind of a hint that there is a problem as the public time and again is being brutalized then we get exactly what we deserve. The police agencies are suppose to serve and protect the public. What we seem to have now are police against the public.

"The Medic screwed up when he left his patient, That my friends is called patient abandonment and he could be fired for that alone. "

Kinda hard not to when you got cops all in your face tossing the al mighty laws around at you.

"The Police have every right in the world to pull over an ambulance if it is violating the law and I encourage it (The law has kept me alive and most EMS deaths are caused by MVA's). "

Imagine for a sec your mother or loved one are in there and imagine if they were in critical condition. Would you want them to be pulled over? I wouldn't.

As a Paramedic there are wrongs on both sides. The OHP really screwed the pooch when he allegedly assaulted the Medic (never saw what happened prior to the video). Believe it or not PD and EMS usually work very well together (At least in my area).

BUUUUUUTTTT,

The Medic screwed up when he left his patient, That my friends is called patient abandonment and he could be fired for that alone.

For those of you that say you hate cops, well the Police are usually at the scene first before EMS and do quite a bit to help the patient prior to EMS getting there.

The Police have every right in the world to pull over an ambulance if it is violating the law and I encourage it (The law has kept me alive and most EMS deaths are caused by MVA's).

Finally there are ambulance services that are not part of the government, as a mater of fact most are private, crappy, for-profit services who's employees are trying to get the "good Jobs" by gaining experience.

They have no right to pull over an ambulance, they are both legally employed by the government and the police are stopping them from doing their job.

These kinds of things make me angry considering it could happen to you. At least in NZ they only recruit people who have completed high school.

Wow... trying to arrest an emergency respondent? Someone who is officially responsible for the safety and well being of the person in the back of the ambulance? What, is this some gung-ho rookie cop who didn't like the idea of someone speeding on his beat, regardless of whether the lady dies or not?

glad to see no one's defending the cops. unfortunately, as we all know, and as it's well known..they probably won't get punished.

OldOllie: once again I agree with you.
It is often said that police cannot be put in jail because it would be attacked by the other inmates. How is this different from anybody being put in jail?
Secondly: the chances of ex-police officer is being wrongfully treated inside the jail would probably be a little more of a crime deterrent for them.
I wish I had more power to punish Bad Cops other than typing up complaints.

The cops will probably get a letter put in their files, or get a few days off. The worst that will happen to them is they might get fired. What they need, though, is some hard prison time for aggravated battery and armed criminal action. Unfortunately, in the USA a police badge is pretty much a license to commit violent felonies with little or no consequences.

There seems to be alot of support for the EMTs in this discussion, but I want to say I understand where the trooper may be comming from. I have seen first hand ambulance drivers who have NO business being ambulance drivers. I can remember of at least 2 instances in my hometown where an ambulance driver rolled their rigs due to excessive speed.

I also agree with meddude. Usually these guys put their egos aside to get the job done first and formost. There is probably a pre-existing history between these 2. The officer could handled this better and escorted them to the hospital, then given the driver a ticket or taken the approriate action at that point.

Having worked in the field, as an EMT-I, and having a tremendous amount respect for law enforcement, and I have work with OHP before, this video makes me sick. The OHP trooper was WAY OUT OF LINE! He was pissed because someone did not respect his Authoritah!

When he pulled that ambulance over he was interfering with patient care and if I am not mistaken that is a crime!

Please don't judge the entire Oklahoma Highway Patrol based on this clown. I've worked with OHP, and still do today, and they are good women and men who do a tuff job with little praise. But like anything in this world there is good and bad people everywhere.
