This is the reason why we added a very important document to our Constitution. What was that called? Ah yes, The Bill of Rights.

"He is listed under his real name, Michael Alan Wiener. "

I couldn't help but laugh at his last name.

This is not a petty disagreement, I think. As an American I think we are allowing ourselves too much tolerance, especially when it flies in the face of everything that everyone knows is right, on some level. Extremists just spread ideas that are disruptive and wrong. We can agree to focus on the real issues, not how some corporation would have us believe that they are. (i.e. everything that Rupert Murdoch owns)

*shrugs*

yeah whatever even if they were in the wrong, they were right and great britain was wrong. I am an American and stand by my people no matter what.

And thats why people hate your country. Some Americans like yourself refuse to accept that anything your countey does could ever be wrong. Your giving the rest of your country a bad name mate.

Brilliant we've banned to American Scumbags from the country. Now if we get rid of the scum already here Britain could be a good place to live. Seriously wouldn't we be better of without the BNP, Islamic Fundamentalists or Gordon Brown?

"I would say that picketing funerals with 'Fag Soldiers Burn In Hell' signs would be about extreme enough."

Angua13:
"Now the grey area is that it could be a slippery slope of banning people because they don't share the same ideals or beliefs. How extreme of a point of view do you have to have in order to make this list?"

1st off...you're excommunicated (and if you didn't catch the reference you don't deserve that handle :)

2nd I think she was saying that if you don't agree with the majority then you get booted out for a disagreement in opinion, however slight. So yes, while you're "Fag Soldiers Burn In Hell" is an excellent example or extremism, she was looking at the other end of the spectrum.

I'm sure religion (or lack thereof) is involved in this somewhere, but hey, I'm glad the government finally did something smart for once.

I've listened to Michael Savage on the radio before, and I don't care for him at all, but it does seem a bit extreme to ban him from entering a country because he expresses his opinions, obtuse as they may be.

goaliejerry - that's exactly the right the US has, inletting people into it's borders. Which is the same right as the UK who don't want this hateful b******d coming here at all.

You have freedom of speech in the UK, however you don't have the right to abuse, victimise, intimidate or disciminate against others. People have the right to go about their business without facing hatred and bigotry too, something Europe has found out to it's shame and cost.

Wouldn't that be hilarious if every country somehow banned them and they had to be shipped to some deserted island.

Oh man... that is a reality show waiting to happen!

Can we ban them from the United States, too, while we're at it? Please?

That British official has her head in the sand. Or maybe she is trying to placate the multitude of hateful imams in the those British mosques who are in the process of stirring up hatred for Western civilization with the goal of taking over so that they can finally have their kaliphate.

"The last time I went to America, they took my fingerprints and an iris scan at Customs... No doubt it's still on record."

A country may place any conditions it wants onto foreigners who CHOSE to enter its borders. Did our government impede your freedom of movement or liberty???? You are not a citizen.

AND GUESS WHAT - this is Hilarious - the UK requires ALL NEW APPLICANTS TO SUBMIT FINGERPRINTS FOR A NATIONAL DATABASE after 2010.....and you complain about the US??????

"Everyone applying for a passport from 2010/11 will have to submit to a digital fingerprint scan, with the prints to be stored on a database." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/7484853.stm

I'm conflicted. Forget what this banned douche stands for.

On the one hand, a soveriegn government may decide who to let enter its borders, and nobody can do anything about it (good luck suing Savage, you jackass - look up government immunity).

On the other hand - DON'T IGNORANT VIEWS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES???? Why must the government determine what its citizen's fragile ears can and cannot take? This is an example of a significant difference between American and European ways of viewing the world - I'll make up my own mind, thank you. And if he is actually - not just maybe, not just, well, he could - if he is actually inciting violence, we have criminal laws to deal with inciting violence.

Good thing they didn't ban whining, whinging complainers, or else the whole of England would be empty.

"Coming to the UK is a privilege, and I refuse to extend that privilege to individuals who abuse our standards and values to undermine our way of life," Smith said. "Therefore, I do not hesitate to name and shame those who foster extremist views, as I want them to know that they are not welcome here.

That's an awesome statement right there. It's about time a Western Country actually stood up for it's self and made some defense of the ideology that has made such countries a place people want to escape to. Check your baggage at the door.

Bravo Zulu Brits!
