Thursday, May 21, 2009 10:10:47 PM "House of Leaves" is missing from this list. I was scared of my own shadow for weeks after reading that mess. |

Wednesday, May 20, 2009 12:25:57 AM The Painted Bird, The End of Alice, and Happy Birthday, Jesus should all be on that list.I think the movie of Requiem For A Dream was more disturbing than the book. |

Sunday, May 17, 2009 2:05:38 PM I agree about Flowers In the Attic: it was incredibly messed up; maybe not number one material though. (the movies gives no justice to the book- which is about 100 times worse) |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:34:10 AM Wow, those WERE quite disturbing. The number 1 book, "A Girl Next Door" was completely terrible. I understand people enjoy reading this type of material. . . but I don't honestly think I could pick this up and read it. I have read the three books of, "A Child called It" and I had to skip past the horrible moments. Honestly, I become pissed at the abuser and can't deal with the fact that I am not able to do something to assist the child. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 5:16:44 AM And of course we can't forget the non-fictional book "A Child Called "It": One Child's Courage to Survive" by Dave Pelzer. The most disturbing part of this book still haunts me to this day (mainly because of a gross factor it includes)... I won't say what it is, but it has to do with food in a dog's bowl, among other related things. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 5:06:18 AM This was a very interesting list. I might pick up a book or two from that list (yes, those types of books do intrigue me). A book I find particularly disturbing (a cat getting dissected- very graphic detail- included) is called "The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea" by Yukio Mishima. (I've read two books by Mishima now.) This book basically is about a gang of highly intellectual, but sociopathic father-hating 13 year old boys who believe in a non-emotional/non-empathic view of the world through their twisted idea of "objectivity". Good read, but it leaves you with a sick stomach. |

Friday, May 15, 2009 3:57:28 PM Go Ask Alice really messed with me when I read it. But that was when I was 12.I LOVE "Guts". That is the best story ever, and it's doubly hilarious in this one video on youtube. Some college guy gave the story to a bunch of people and they had to read it aloud to the camera without knowing anything about it beforehand. It was awesome. "Ham on Rye" by Charles Bukowski was a messed up one, too. Something about it made me feel really hollow and terrible. |

I didn't even WANT to read the book based on what I saw in the movie... Oh, and anyone who wants to read creepy ass 120 of Sodom, all you gotta do is search "read -insert title- online." It's the first one. I read the first page. I don't recommend it. However I will continue reading. |

Friday, May 15, 2009 12:56:19 PM "(And HOLY F*CK, that Guts thing Grayfox mentioned. Ugh, UGH! I got to the intestine bit and I stopped reading. Felt physically sick! )" yeah that was sick, it was ruined by me seeing a story of that happening to a little girl a few months ago, so i saw it from a mile away.

Friday, May 15, 2009 12:49:11 PM I kinda expected "Flowers in the Attic" to be up there, because that book was mighty insane. (Incest whilst locked up in an attic by your ashamed grandmother. Niiice.)"I read Elie Wiesel's "Night" in the eighth grade. Left our whole English class wondering..." Ehh. That book wasn't as disturbing as number one, but it was certainly up there. |

Friday, May 15, 2009 12:29:03 PM Neal Shusterman's "Unwind" should have been on there. That is without a doubt the most disturbing book I have ever read. |

Friday, May 15, 2009 8:26:51 AM Basically want to read all of them except for the 120 Days of Sodom and the Turner Diaries. I'd seriously go to the library now but I have to read The Picture of Dorian Gray by June. D: |
