Tuesday, May 12, 2009 8:32:34 AM But, of course the school is COMPLETELY INSANE!! it made me so unbelievably agitated that the principal can just bare-facedly limit this kids freedom!! i think its fundamentally wrong to be so straight-laced as it will hinder and stunt your growth as a human being, and going to dances form and mold children growing up into well rounded and useful members of society. its also, as a 'minor' aside, FUN!! but i begrugingly accept that if the school gives you a contract to sign, and you sign it, that you have to stick by their rules, but if it doesnt explicitly say these are extended to life outside the school then it is both illegal and morally disgusting. |

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 8:29:57 AM Of course, this is justr another comment on a tiny website which wont get out to anyone that matters, so i dont even know why im bothering...i dunno. but yeah, its the people that follow religion that cause the problem, and abuse the core values of that religion. maddog, if your going to say that the whole of religion is evil, it doesnt make sense!! This statement i think is hardpressed to be proved wrong: SOME parts of christianity teach kindness and compassion. how could this be evil. it may just be a semantical point, but at least modify what you said out of respect for the millions of christians who live in-offensive, non-radical lives, who simply believe in god and the afterlife. going to church on a sunday and believeing in god doesnt make you a sheep, or a zombie, or an idiot, so show a little decorum please. dairy: AWAAAY! |

Monday, May 11, 2009 12:09:37 PM And this is where I have to say one thing. Stop being so tight-a$$ed. I hate it when people that can be related to me in anyways are so unreasonable. (I consider myself a christian, but do not conform to the stereotype) |

Monday, May 11, 2009 8:54:57 AM Do private schools in America really get that anal retentive? I went to a private, Catholic, all-girls school and comparatively, we were heathens. :P We had dances, sports days and performed plays/musicals with all-boys schools. Hell, we even spoke frankly & openly about birth control and sex in R.E. With a male teacher. And to top it all off we used "rock" music in many of our classes. Including in the ever popular Dance class. |

Monday, May 11, 2009 7:05:32 AM *clears throat* It's a Christian school. So I ask, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE SUPRISED? I'm speaking from experience, they're Nazis. You can get expelled for doing anything they don't like, must private schools don't have to have grounds for expulsion as long as the Board of Directors says it's okay. If a teacher finds out you smoked pot five years before you started attending there, you can get expelled. And, by the way, parents can sign the forms instead of students, i's legal. :3 |

Monday, May 11, 2009 2:27:02 AM ammit13fma - "and how is what happened if off school groudns and not at a school function grounds for school involvement?"Well not sure how it works in the states, but here in good old blighty they'd probably be breaking the rule of 'bringing the school into dispripute' - which is a rule that lots of schools/workplaces include so that they can hold you to account for things you do whether it's in their time/grounds or not. I'm an athiest, I don't really like organised religion at all - but as long as no one is trying to impose their beliefs on me, I see no reason to try and imposed mine on them either. Which generally works out OK here in the UK as we don't have as many fundamentalists as you do in the US. Lots of Christians seem to think only other religions like Islam have fundamentalists, whereas I think Christians have more than their own share too...especially in the US it seems.

Sunday, May 10, 2009 10:25:36 PM Thanks Wibble for seeing what so many people fail to see ,but unfortunately as you know you can't convince a believer of anything 'their belief is not based on evidence it's based on a deep seated need to believe .i think it's sad that people need to have religion and god in their lives as I'm sure they would feel that the lack of god in my life is sad.Of course there was a time when all people believed in god and the church ruled ,this time was called the dark ages. |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 6:09:47 PM ok I read and reread the arctile, is this a document all students have to sign or did eh do something? I agree the school should not be able to punsih astudent for what happens out side of the school and its afterschool fuinctios but they only mentioned hew had a fgirlfriend and did not say he had engaged in drinking or sex, so what happened? and how is what happened if off school groudns and not at a school function grounds for school involvement? |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 5:34:19 PM Why do people not recognise religion for what is it? Social control of the uneducated. Religion was brought about as a form of social control within communities that were uneducated to instill a form of social value. It is ard to convince someone of the authority of Fred who says you did a bad thing and must be punished. It is much easier to say you will go to 'Hell' and be punished by 'God' neither of which you can see or argue with. |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 5:10:54 PM Gomay: I'd like to see the passages of the Bible where it says slavery is only acceptable as a payment of debt. Could you reference them please?Because passages such as Exodus 12:44 and Exodus 21:2 talk about "buying" slaves, which suggests trading and purchasing, like you would buy a loaf of bread. And Leviticus 25:44-47 explicitly states that you can't use fellow Israelites as slaves. It's OK to buy slaves from other neighbouring countries though. So clearly your debt thing is just not true. Why do you have to lie to defend your religion? |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 4:54:19 PM I am a Christ-following ordinary human being. My pastor and I discuss stuff like this 85% of the time we meet. From our conversations I took this; I can enter a bar, get moderately buzzed, dance, and leave being no less a christian. Jesus had fun, heck we're speaking of a man who can turn water into wine for the sake up his relative's party. All of you christian meat heads can be pricklier than cacti. And for those ignorant non-believers (sorry, but isn't that what you are...) don't realize how fun Christianity can be at it's core. P.S. LOVE :) |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 3:48:42 PM As an example of cutting some things out...Slavery is ok ONLY if you can't pay back a debt to someone. THEN you become his slave for a fair amount of time, most being 7 years. Whitey read the first 3 words and decided to enslave the Africans. |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 3:45:11 PM @MaddogWho said that in the Bible and who was he talking to? Not all of the verses in the Bible talks to everyone. Like some are directed to the Gentiles etc. etc. |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 2:24:03 PM qwelch:I'll post just one quote from the bible to prove exactly how evil the bible is. There are many more examples of how repulsive and self contradicting the bible is but this one will suffice...and I'm not even going to start on how many example there are of christianity being a ripp off of other previous religions! "If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods …do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. - Deut 13:7-12" Nuff said, debate over! |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 2:17:12 PM @ dysfunkgirl6: personally, i'm indecided on christianity myself, but by its tenants, yes ghandi did go to hell. according to the bible, man cannot go to heaven by works alone but only by his belief in jesus. thats if and only if you believe the christian doctrine. otherwise, it's wide open to debate based on whatever standpoint you take on religion and the existence and admittance into heaven. |

Sunday, May 10, 2009 1:45:39 PM 'kay, Maddog, agree to disagree.Just a few closing remarks: 1) Like what don11817 was getting at, Christians are called to love God and love others. The people who go around locking up/killing people who live a lifestyle they disagree are either extremely confused or altogether fake Christians. 2) Straw man, eh? What about all these ad hominem or hasty generalizations going on? If you actually want to argue further, tell me, and I'll email you. |
