@motownc You are correct, I have never spent time in north Africa, the Middle East or Asia. I understand that the people there use hookahs primarily for smoking tobacco. I also know for a fact that some people, especially young Americans, use them for other purposes. I would add that rarely have I seen people completely miss the point of such a simple joke and take it to such a ridiculous extreme. |

Ollie, the hookah or nargile or sheesha is not a hash pipe. It is used for smoking tobacco. Usually flavoured tobaccos are used like apple. Whilst you can use it for more entertaining smoking mixes that is not what it is for. If you've never seen it used for tobacco then you've obviously never spent time in north Africa, the Middle East or Asia. |

@Liquidglass A hookah is a water pipe with one or more flexible tubes through which smoke is drawn. There is nothing in the definition that specifies what may be smoked through one. I have smoked a hookah, and I have known many others who have as well. I have never seen or heard of anyone using one to smoke tobacco. I suppose it could be done, but I can't imagine why. So sorry to hear about your sense of humor, though. How did you kill it, sniffing glue? |

Hookah is fun, mainly in a social environment. Not sure who would really do it by themselves. But I can do smoke rings like that. just not as often, and rarely as big :P |

Know the names sheesha/shishah/narghile tough.Smoked it in Turkey and Tunisia nice but you mustn't inhale all the time.
