Gatorade777, just because it happens constently where you live doesn't mean it's not a problem. It's not just reading drama, it's showing how messed up it is and the problem. It makes people notice. Also, both kids should not get suspended. Just the jerk who tested Mr. Asian. Why get in trouble for self defence? |

this isn't news. Baltimore where I live; this happens about 10 times a day. Who cares about listening to and reading drama. Both kids should be suspended, big deal. Move on. |

yeah....schools have no sense of justice...and any kind of saving one's self from harm is discouraged...i think it is straight bullpoo...grow some balls administrators....and do the RIGHT thing...not the bureaucratic thing.... |

schools punish retaliation because they are training children to be defenseless little pussies that rely on 'authority figures' for everything.if everyone grew up learning to defend themselves and not running away from everything police and the legal system would lose a lot of their potential business. just so you know why schools always promote "don't do anything, never hit back, violence is not the answer, take ridicule, bullying, insults, and don't do anything" policy. |

Schools in general need to reexamine their policies on fighting. My school's position is that if you fight in any way, shape or form you will be suspended; it doesn't matter if it's in self defense. You should just find a teacher.In the real world, policies like that don't work. You get beat, in some cases relatively severely, if you don't defend yourself. Regardless, even if you do find a teacher they'll assume you fought back if the incident occurred out of their sight. I think discouraging self-defense is asinine, and to go one step further: immoral. People have an unalienable right to self-defense. Go Asian kid. |

In my school you don't get punished if you were hit first three times. Although I believe if you retaliate after only being hit once or twice, you do get in trouble and the kid that attacked you and got knocked out gets no punishment. |

They always throw the retaliation into trouble but never do poo to the protagonists! All the time in my schools too. If you reacted, you got in trouble, there was NEVER any justice. |

Yeah... well in middle school I used to get fights all the time. Some guy would just randomly come up to and start hitting me and I'd normally get in more trouble then the guy who started it. One time when I was tried of getting in trouble for "fighitng" I tried to walk away while the guy tripped me then picked me up by my neck and started choking me. Then the teacher walks in and sees him doing this and I was kicked out of school for two weeks and he was only kicked out for a week. But it was because of the guys that would fight be so they could kool were black and they would always say that they got in a fight with me because I said some racist thing to them,

are you serious? biased? there's a friggin reason for the bias. and that BS about little evidence for self defense? man what are you thinking? the bully swung first, that by all means gives the green light for him to kick his ass. the bully is just lucky the kid had discipline or else he was done for. and yes he was a bully, you don't use a racial slur on someone and expect to be called a friggin hero for it. that immediately constitutes him as a bully. |

The report is hugely biased and the subject header here is so wrong it's ludicrous. A martial arts master (that's what "black belt" means) is far from being an underdog in a fight with some untrained brawler. There's no reference to any evidence that the other youth was a bully, either. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, we don't know. As for the charges...one person apparently uninjured, one person with a broken nose. So the more serious injury results in a charge. Also, trained fighters are usually held to a higher standard, with good reason. I think it's far from being as clear-cut as it's being made out to be. We have hardly any information other than a cry of "OMG RACISM!" to stop people thinking. I'd say it's probably reasonable force in defence, but there's very little information to go on. |
