Tuesday, April 28, 2009 2:56:44 AM In fact this mutation of flu has been affecting mainly young adults, not the elderly or young. |

Monday, April 27, 2009 11:39:15 PM I live in Mexico City... it is kinda crazy here, everything is closed and people don't want to go out, movie theaters, bars and restaurants are closed, coffee shops like starbucks only have take out the've taken away all the tables and chairs. The thing is that this flu is highly contagious and if not properly treated people can develop pneumonia and that's what kills them. It is a dangerous situation but I think people are overreacting to this, just be careful who you have contact with and that's it. |

Monday, April 27, 2009 10:56:02 PM It can mutate into a zombie virus...right? -- We can hope.On a less awesome note, the first things I thought of when I heard 80 people died: 80... out of 6 billion how many were elderly, very young, sickly, stupid, had another disease, etc. etc. When people of a normal/healthy age who take good care of themselves start dying in mass numbers, tell me. Until then, I will enjoy my not-panicking. |

Monday, April 27, 2009 10:48:13 PM Bottom line is that there are many many strains of flu out there. The flu shot is designed to target the ones that trends show will most likely cause an outbreak during the season. Anyone who's panicking over this should chill out, wash your hands, drink lots of water, and get some exercise. OH and anyone who thinks that the last pandemic even put a dent in most populations outta check who the biggest demographic in the western world are right now. If they died back then, we wouldn't all be getting ready to pony up the cash to take care of baby boomers now... |

Monday, April 27, 2009 10:44:04 PM I personally think that since the disease is killed when cooked, we should just cook the sick people.Kill them before they're rampaging pig-people I always say. |

Think about it, for Mexico City, the single most densely populated city in the world with nearly 20 million people stuffed into that little plateau and the nearby metropolitan area, hasn't gone berserk with thousands of cases by now. If it hasn't severely damaged Mexico City, then the vast majority of the 2 billion people in the western hemisphere are safe, especially mestizos."Shutup, we all want a zombie apocolypse. 99% of males who watched Shaun of the Dead, or have played left 4 dead desperately want a zombie apocolypse, because it would give us an excuse to shoot things and break stuff. It can mutate into a zombie virus...right? |

Monday, April 27, 2009 9:34:47 PM My mother used to talk about seeing train loads of coffins coming back to the midwest to be buried. Go to an old graveyard (preferably a small town, small one so you're not walking all day) and see how many died (percentage wise)during the last flu pandemic. There is still no cure for a viral infection. Some things will help, but not much. Mexico city has one of the largest populations in the world - if it breaks out there, millions will die. And the ones who are left, or are still well enough to make the trip, will come to the states. |

Monday, April 27, 2009 9:24:32 PM Nidonemo: No prob. :D I am aware that the worldwide impression might be that. bumbleBB: Surgical masks have indeed a very limited effect, but it's a first protection, mechanical mostly. At least it keeps people's spit out of your mouth. LOL some people really spit when they talk. As you pointed, surgical masks have to be changed often, I'm not sure but I think the really simple ones only work for around 10 hours...Of course, washing hands is the top protection. nrg70 said: "WOO HOO, Natural Selection At Work!!
