Monday, April 27, 2009 5:59:56 PM That is amazing! It would have been one thing if he hadn't been aware that he was having a heart attack, but to realize it, and continue nonetheless... Wow. |

Monday, April 27, 2009 5:30:01 AM >YellowsquareBrainsurgery is pretty tricky stuff, most of the other people present are only there to aid the one actual doctor. At least that's the impression I get after discussing with my doctors (yes, I have undrgone brain surgery, I have a shunt). So, sure, he could've saved his own skin and let some nurse do it (not that I have anything against nurses, they just mightn't have gotten such thorough education on brain surgery), but I'm not so sure the patient would have been happy. |

Sunday, April 26, 2009 10:10:21 PM "If you are going to have a heart attack you can only hope you’ll get a doctor like this."If I'm going to have a heart attack, I wouldn't want a brain surgeon! LOL! You gotta hand it to this guy, though. Being a doctor, he knew what was happening, and he knew that by delaying treatment, he was losing heart muscle. My brother had a heart attack but didn't know it. He finally went to the hospital and found out that he was actually having his 2ND heart attack! His heart is now about half dead and barely functioning. He's in too bad a shape for a bypass, but not quite bad enough for a transplant. The point is, that doctor's heart is probably in worse shape and his life will probably be shorter now because he didn't drop everything and go to the ER...and he knew it. |

Sunday, April 26, 2009 9:47:38 PM @yellowsquareYour logic is sound, but to be honest, not you nor I know the exact circumstances, we aren't brain surgeons and we weren't there. For all we know, the heart attack might have been a very minor one, and the surgery might have been at a stage were the patient absolutely WOULD have died had he stopped, and there might not have been a single other person in the room at that moment capable of doing it properly. Then again, maybe he could have left and was just being stupid. *shurg* |

Sunday, April 26, 2009 6:39:01 PM Not to be a party pooper or anything, but what he did was irresponsible and foolish. Sure, it would've put the patient at risk not to continue the surgery, but that surgeon was not the only one in the room, and he could've handed the operation off to someone else while he sought treatment. What if his hand had slipped? What if he had collapsed? That patient would surely have been severely affected if not dead. Plus props for hardass-ness. Minus props for being stupid. |

Sunday, April 26, 2009 5:35:43 PM My dad had a heart attack and was like "I'm fine! I'm just tired" (as he was laying on the floor.) He seriously had no idea what was going on. He tried to walk it off and all that jazz. Turns out it was a really major heart attack and he almost didn't make it. |

Sunday, April 26, 2009 5:14:01 PM Sometimes when people don't go to the hospital because of heart attack they aren't heros they are just idiots. Some people call the doctor complaining about pains in their chest (meaning they're having a heart attack) saying that they tried to walk it off and then took a nap.
