Someone has probably asked this by now, but why do all the Japanese clips show people's reactions in a little box in the corner? Do all of their shows use this annoying technique, or is it just a game show thing? I want to know if these people are just audience members in a studio, or if they are contestants in a show I am not understanding.

The people watching are celebrities in a studio watching the recording. You don't get to see the whole show on YouTube, but everyone's gathered together and then they talk about what they've watched and do other funny stunts later. You see them to watch their reactions to what they're watching.

I can answer your questions

#1: WHAT THE F**K IS THAT THING!?!?!

It's a giant Rhino Beetle model the guy made all by himself for 11 years. It weighs 15 tons and he made it because he told his wife that he wanted to build a beetle that he could even ride. So his wife said, "Ok you can do it. And when you do, ride it all the way to the garbage can"

#2: How long will it take for them to finalise it? (This is just a prototype, I guess)
He said he's done making it... This is his third model called the Kabutomu RX03

#3: How long after they finalise it will it take for Japan to take over the whole damn planet?
He said he's a protector of the Earth... and he's not for conquest.

#4: Why the hell do Japanese people need Japanese subtitles when they're speaking in Japanese?! They're not like little words at the bottom, either. They're huge cover-half-the-screen subtitles.
The Japanese use subtitles for their Variety TV genres to emphasis the humor/impre

@Bootneck: Thank you! Interestingly enough, the article that you linked to also links to the articles I linked to TWICE.

It makes little difference, though, someone else will probably pop in and reference a geography or social studies text that was printed prior to 1954.

Every time I think I've seen the height of ignorance or stupidity, some "expert" shows up here and raises the bar yet again.

It honestly makes me question how we've managed to survive so long as a species.

Er please note this rather comprehensive entry in Wikipedia...

Not to mention that it's also a historical FACT that the Japanese Diet NEVER ratified those specific articles in the 4th Geneva Conventions, OR the "rewritten" Constitution.

I generally try to avoid name-calling here on IAB, but GRadde, you are by FAR the most complete definition of the phrase "blithering idiot" that I have come across here.

Read a book.

PLEASE.

@GRadde: Wherever you are getting your information from, it is SEVERELY flawed. I again reference these articles. You really don't have the slightest clue as to what you're talking about. And again, I HAVE PERSONALLY TRAINED JAPANESE NCO'S HERE IN THE U.S.!

Maybe you should check your facts next time before you spout such utter nonsense.

GRadde - Summare: Japan has no army. Japan has no right to an army of any sorts, land, air or water. They are not allowed to attack nor defend their country by force.

You're talking rubbish. Japan does have an army, it's jsut not called an army. It's called the Japanese Defence Force and they have land, air and water defences. You are right about some things, but others you're just way off on.

@ osiris, caboose, slmmhmmr

The japanese constitution was changed by the US after WWII, and reads as follows:

ARTICLE 9. Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes. (2) In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized.

Thus, they cannot have an army. It says so in their consitution. The US swore to defend Japan, since they forced them to denounce having an army.

Summare: Japan has no army. Japan has no right to an army of any sorts, land, air or water. They are not allowed to attack nor defend their country by force.
