Friday, April 17, 2009 10:28:04 PM I hope that everyone knows that this group of people actually performed a concert together at Carnegie Hall. YouTube flew them in and they worked for 3 days a put on a huge performance. It was really quite amazing. This was just a collection of the audition tapes. They all had to play the same music for the audition at a certain tempo. So I'm sure actually putting the music together in the video wasn't terrible difficult. Although time consuming I'm sure. |

Friday, April 17, 2009 9:03:17 AM I admit, things like this are probably hard to organize (unless you are Google, like in this case) and all, but it wasn't worth all the hype around it. Video with people dancing at some train station was much more awesome, IMO. Also, I couldn't hear any good tune there, sounded more like a number of random parts of different songs were mashed up together. |

Friday, April 17, 2009 7:02:42 AM hahaha! i love the stormtrooper!it was pretty good, not nearly as good as if you were in a concert hall with an orchestra that had practiced together and tuned their instruments to each other, but pretty damn good considering that they weren't together! |

Thursday, April 16, 2009 9:11:15 PM That kind of smashup really makes the role of conductor look like trash. I've always wondered, because these musicians know their parts and know the score, WTF is the conductor really doing other than some self-centered masturbation. This type of collaboration being pulled off finally answers the question. The conductor is doing some kind of self-centered masturbation. |

Thursday, April 16, 2009 5:50:54 PM It's an interesting concept, but why use so many unconventional instruments (bowed saw, melodica, brake rotors, saucepans, etc.)? I was waiting for the Theremin, Tesla Coil and Floppy Drive to make an entrance.Unfortunately the thing doesn't really gel--many instruments were a little out of tune with each other, as the instrumentalists couldn't hear each other to help pull the tuning in. |

Thursday, April 16, 2009 5:48:23 PM I liked it. I'm unsure about the first part, but from the middle on it's quite good. :D |

Thursday, April 16, 2009 5:22:00 PM @TopperHey:Trust me, the randomness is Tan Dun's style. I saw an opera composed by him once and was weird as all get-out. |

Thursday, April 16, 2009 5:07:06 PM That was a brilliant piece of work. I don't see how anybody could see otherwise, unless they know nothing more than hiphop and stupid video games. We really do need more musical collaborations like this floating around. |

Thursday, April 16, 2009 3:53:46 PM Ooo thats a lot of people playing instruments. Nice to see they eventually managed to make a tune with it. Pity it was only 77 seconds long and for some reason they had 3 and a half minutes of randomness first. |
