Saturday, April 11, 2009 6:49:27 AM CRAKRJAK - This is the BBC. There is no ad-time. They don't have commercials at all.I would say that maybe the BBC just knows from experience that Brits enjoy watching nature documentaries with orchestral music and slow-mo so that we can better appreciate the power or beauty of what we are looking at? And if that makes mundane things seem more interesting to some people, well then they have just made someone who usually doesn't care to learn about nature actually enjoy learning. No bad thing. |

Saturday, April 11, 2009 3:28:30 AM Crackr, ...with the purpose of selling ad time on TV for profit. Sorry if that seems cynical, That's just me.
Crakr, tis a bit cynical, since the BBC is unique amongst TV channels as it does not show advertisements/commercials of any kind. All of its revenue comes directly from TV Licence payers, plus whatever they get for selling the shows on to other networks (who may well decide to slap on their own adverts). |
