Ok wtf, they interview black people and get their opinion on why its wrong and bad, then interview white people to find out why its ok... something is really wrong with that approach.

However, what the hell people, should we just start saying the holocaust didn't happen? the kkk never existed? Maybe we should just turn a blind eye to every controversial event that ever occured in our history... because that would teach us all a lesson... shame on you people for complaining, but many kudos to the school for doing what's right. They should get some kind of award for being intelligent enough to realize what was going on.

I was so glad to hear that the school planned on keeping the display... finally, maybe we can raise some intelligent people now...

"Deny history black people! That's the way to grow strong and teach your children about being strong and overcoming challenges that society creates! Hell yeah!
Morons"

"i take offence to that. im black and i have no problem with the peep display at all sir"

you don't have to call him sir, he's a jacka ss. his comment doesn't deserve that respect.

They're making this into such a huge political issue when I bet the kid who made it was some jackass attention whore just trying to create controversy. I don't think it's okay to deny history, but you also need to pick your battles - a history display made out of marshmallow bunnies isn't exactly the most fitting place for a serious social commentary.

"I Find History offensive!" Well boo hoo, it happened, we have moved on since that point, so get over it... You don't see many Italians whining that they want their empire back because the loss of it is offensive to their pride.

I'm torn here. It probably is in poor taste, but I also feel it's important to not sweep under the rug our more shameful parts of history. I think the people who would object the most would be the real racists, just like the Holocaust deniers.

Adding to that, if there is ever a world history one I hope to hell someone makes a Peep version of the Japanese Unit 731. I'd love to see what people would have to say about that.

I bet the project about Martin Luther King being shot down (and you know there is one) was praised by the same folks bitching about this one, even though it's also about killing black people. I guess painful memories are okay as long as your people look enough like martyrs through it all.

Gee, is it surprising that the people against it were black and the people in favor of it white? It's not the deep south like Georgia or Mississippi but it's still the south.

I think the teacher could have (and should have) advised the student to depict a scene that was more a part of history. That is something that still has negative implications today. It's in poor taste, period. I'm betting that the racist bastards are all sitting around laughing about it.

I'll never understand ignorance and stupidity like that.

"It's a painful part of history." Boo f-cking hoo. There are a tonne of things in history that are painful to certain people. Get over it; it wasn't an attack, it was a display.
Guess what? These things still happen. Trying to pretend it doesn't exist isn't going to change anything.

Goddamn, it's so irritating how f-cking sensitive society is getting these days. People get butt-hurt over everything.

It's as simple as a part of our history. We openly talk of slavery and other historical events. Some may not have been the most shining moments, but they are all part of American history. Deal with it.

Some people's entire existence is based on grievance; they live to be offended. It must really suck to be one of them.

This could be wrong and it could be right. It depends...
If the students put it up ONLY for the purpose of the history assignment, it should be left up. But, if any of them did it for a racist reason, it should be taken down.
Now, we will never know which it is, but that's my opinion.
Another thing, you can't pick and choose which parts of history you like and say "This is my history!" You either have to accept it all, or none at all. You can then define which parts you like or dislike, and your stance on them.
Thats my opinion.
