Tuesday, April 07, 2009 9:24:10 PM "Sadly, most of the homeless do not want to commit to a regular life and would rather not be confined. They want to be free to live the life they choose. It's OK to give them food, but if you give them money they will not spend it wisely. "Change second word "most" to "many" and I agree and it IS true. I have been there and it was my decision. "It's a waste of time to fee sorry for them rather than working at a soup kitchen or shelter. Save your feelings of misplaced guilt." This statement is being misunderstood! Folks, volunteer your services! This is the way to learn and make a contribution. You will feel better about yourself. patticakes is 99.9 percent accurate. As a rule, I only give money to "street people" if they are entertaining by busking in a way I admire. This to me is earning an income. They can do what ever they want with the money just like everybody else with a paying job does. Looking pathetic doesn't produc |

Monday, April 06, 2009 8:20:23 PM I'm not one to talk, but homeless people should not be treated as beggars that will waste their money on booze and their next fix. The ones that don't have mental illnesses have serious addictions that can be treated like diseases, ones that were genetically pre-determined for them, not chosen voluntarily. Rather than giving money I suppose that it would be more helpful to enter them in a 12-step program or some sort of free rehabilitation center. |

Monday, April 06, 2009 7:59:19 PM Be kind to everyone, but use discretion when giving to beggars and homeless people. Many of them have a tragic story behind their condition, but many of them are difficult to empathize with. |

Monday, April 06, 2009 11:50:45 AM Yea lots of people fail to realize that many homeless people are people with a mental disorder. It's sad. When they walk down the street screaming at nothing or talking to themselves, don't laugh at them, empathize. And many homeless people don't know that they can get help. No one ever WANTS to be homeless. I guess it's just that they have gotten used to being on the streets and they realize the freedom that it brings.Being homeless has it's pros and cons just like living a home can have it's pros and cons. |

Monday, April 06, 2009 7:28:42 AM This pulled out my heartstrings. The music and everything about this video is not only an eyeopener it really makes you think and possibly have a bit more respect for these poor souls.Patticakes: Why don't YOU try being on the street with an illness and see how it feels to be treated like a piece of trash. You should change your name to insensitive, ignorant as*hole. |

Monday, April 06, 2009 6:05:12 AM I agree patticakes, you are quoting a parent or something a friend told you and you believe to be true. Many of the homeless are mentally ill without insurance, they don't have the proper meds they need and are walking around constantly lost. Then, last year we had the guy who had been mugged on got beat so bad that he had amnesia, so he he wandered the streets for 7 years until a former co-worker recognized him. He still doesn't know what his past life was, but at least he is in an assisted living facility. |

Monday, April 06, 2009 4:22:41 AM I sort of agree with Tisjokar, but on the other hand, the actual video was awesome, beatiful, best. I love it how sections became song in my head without my meaning to (for example 1:20-1:30). Love it. Magical. |

Sunday, April 05, 2009 11:39:59 PM I normally like things like this, but this i did not, mainly because i do not agree. Ive talked to homless people, known them, heard what !SOME! think. Some don't even want to bother, some exploit the government and some choose to be where the are, there are programs that can help them, but they don't choose to ask, some i guess just want it to come to them. |
