But, uh, guys, really. I think the late great George Carlin said it best when he said, "You can either joke about everything, or you can joke about nothing." Yes, it's a tragedy, but it's an event no one here could ever control. There's no use causing yourself to feel pain over something bad that happened to someone else. To everyone here acting as though we "jokesters", you said, are the scum of the earth, who are you to judge someone else for having a morbid sense of humor?

...besides, I'll take a crack at it that most of /you/ were at least mildly entertained by the video yourselves. It's human nature to love carnage. You're only acting righteous and empathic to look like you're fantastic people, anyway.

What is up with the high amount of plane crashes lately, and am I the only one that suspects SkyNet as the reason?

Yet another example of why I don't fly. Poor bastards didn't even have time to say "Oh God," before the damn thing burst into flames.

News as entertainment being conflated with entertainment as news. Read "Amusing Ourselves To Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business." This forum is a perfect example. Babylon, here we come!

Fair enough, Perfection. If they're including this link as a news item that we need to know about, then I accept that.

Either way, I'm not trying to turn this into a, "Let's take IAB for granted and complain..." thread.

I consider IAB to be a classy site, overall, with a thoughtful group of users who make good comments. I wouldn't let this single element that I happen to disagree with ruin this for me.

"After receiving all the glory for the Hudson River Landing, Sully B. Sullenburg let his co-pilot take the reigns for one flight to make it up to him. This was the result."

Hey, At least it wasn't a "No wonder I didn't get so and so" joke Perfection.

"I know another popular site used to have a policy about not posting people dying. I dunno... I just don't think we should consider that "entertainment," and this is a site for entertainment, isn't it?"

Entertainment, and news. I believe this constitutes news. And to all the people making comments about their stuff not arriving, grow up.

There have been quite a rash of plane crashes lately, but I remembering hearing the plane crashes seem to happen in spurts.

I'd like to see if that is true. It would be a very interesting statistical anomaly.

I know another popular site used to have a policy about not posting people dying. I dunno... I just don't think we should consider that "entertainment," and this is a site for entertainment, isn't it?

I know I'm gonna catch flak for criticizing the inclusion of this video, but it's how I feel. I'm not just randomly complaining and I love IAB and have talked about how great this site is and how much I liked various links/contributions. You have to take the good with the bad, I guess.

(This is all moot if nobody died in the video, I suppose.)

Wow, strange watching people die on video. Kind of wasn't expecting that.

But as a side note, I couldn't help but laugh at the Tom Hank's joke.

The Fuselage is ruptured, so I bet no one survived, Although the roosterpit look in tact.

"Why were they flying in that wind though?"

They were trying to land, not take off. It probably wasn't bad where they started the flight. They could have tried to divert somewhere else but they're trained to deal with all sorts of weather, and there may have been other factors that caused it.
