To all who have said it isn't illegal to write on money, you are incorrect. YES, it is illegal to deface U.S. money. Is it prosecuted? Not usually. But that doesn't make it legal.

Ooh this reminds me of something. One time a friend of a friend wrote something on a tenner, I think it might have been his name. A few weeks later we were sitting in a cafe and another friend came over going 'Some guy wrote on this tenner! Are you allowed do that?' and it was the same one.Anywho, I liked the 'do you really need more drugs' one. |

I once got a 10 dollar bill from a cashier at quick chek that said in bright red marker 'C OCK FACE' and on Hamilton's face was a very interesting rendition of a new nose for him. |

It's only legal to write on US currency if it was like a website name along the very bottom, such as wherehaveIbeen.com or wheresgeorge.com. Those shouldn't have been legal, but hey, what do I care? That'd be awesome if I got a dollar like one of those. :3 |

JoeYC it depends on where you live in your country it may nor be illegal in the u.s.its not unless you deface is to the point its unfit for cirrculation. - "Writting on currency is not illegal unless you're making them "unfit for recirculation" and, according to Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code, this is defined as "mutilating, cutting, disfiguring, perforating, uniting or cementing together, or doing anything else to a bank bill with the intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued". |
