Tuesday, February 24, 2009 4:45:14 AM Had never heard of it, saw the trailer (love that smashing pumpkins song), checked it out on wikipedia, then brought the comic to see what the fuss was about. I have to admit, it was twisted and fun, the viewers guide gives you a taste. Now I hope the final product lives up to my hopes and having read a "graphic novel" does not get me labeled as a geek. |

Monday, February 23, 2009 2:10:48 PM Can't fault you on your opinion Painter, but I don't think you were looking at things in the GN the way that Moore intended.I would go more into specifics, but I fear if I do I'll let loose a few too many spoilers. There are many folds and layers to the book, its not something that can be read and analyzed topically. But hey, I can understand that digging in a book for meanings could be boring. I whole-heartedly dislike movies that my friends say are wonderful and groundbreaking. I just think that from the surface the GN may suck, but it really comes alive on deeper levels. |

Monday, February 23, 2009 1:25:28 PM I think this graphic novel made the 100 best American novels list. In fact I think some colleges actually teach this as some of their required readings. Im not expecting much, but I do want to watch it to see what the hype is about. |

Monday, February 23, 2009 1:16:54 PM The way I see it, is that both the book and movie were 2 separate works of fiction that have similarities, but are ultimately different. Same thing with the Watchmen, great book in both writing and artwork. oh and they mention Rorschach's name in the book, Walter Kovacs (small spoiler for those who haven't read it)

Monday, February 23, 2009 1:00:54 PM Nope, Painter. I agree with you. I find it to be a long, boring, drawn out, long winded piece of crap. I do think (and always have thought) that it'd be better as a movie. It has all the right elements to be a fantastic flick. The same went for "V For Vendetta". Boring book, great movie. |

Monday, February 23, 2009 12:35:13 PM You know, I am going to be alone here, but the graphic novel kind of sucked, really. They are seeking justice for a rapist, it's hard for me to also see how apathetic they were about the situation in the end.(Spoiler) Hitler had the same idea as "Smartest Man in the World" did in the book.(Only without interdimensional beasts) It just kind of sucked, the movie will suck too. |
