Why does this have to be an issue of race? Even if it is about Obama, it wouldn't be comparing black people to monkeys. It'd be saying he's as smart as a monkey, that a monkey could have developed the same stimulus bill. This is so melodramatic |

not quite. if you get the joke it means you read the news and will link it to what happend in connecticut. the joke is; people think obama's stimulous plan could very well have been planned out by a monkey, or chimp. thats all. its no deeper than that. its the people who made it deeper. people will analyze the hell out of anything to make it seem bigger than it really is. people need to relax. thats whats wrong with people, they're always looking for something to fight about. its human nature. |

Does no one else think that this is a perfect example of the fact that everyone is racist? The racist intent is inferred by the viewer. The person who made the comic is racist. I am racist. Anyone who gets the joke is racist, regardless of their reaction be it laughter, disdain, or outrage. |

While the comic was obviously a shot at Obama. Who is to say whether the writer intended to be racist? It would be a great step in history for people to not associate an ape with a black person. The fact that so many people were offended, and that the writer possibly meant to offend, just shows that America has no will to move forward and view everyone as equals. |

I have to admit, this does look really bad. Sure if you think about it-- No Obama didn't write the stimulus. Yeah, everyone has called Bush a monkey before.However, people do associate the stimulus with Obama being responsible. And Bush wasn't black. I'm sorry but black people have dealt with that particular racist comparison en mass. I just think this was a bad idea. It wasn't funny. There was nothing particularly witty about this that made it worth what it could be seen as. |

If it had been any other kind of insult towards the stimulus plan as long as it did NOT suggest President Obama as a freaking MONKEY, it would not have been racist, simply critical.The fact that the officers make the comment that, after the monkey is dead, there would have to be someone else making the bill. That implies the monkey had something to do with the stimulus bill and one could almost directly link that as a shot top President Obama. I am not pro republican. I am not pro democrat. I am a US Citizen tired of racism and that is ALL I see here. |

Medi, it shouldn't come as a shock at all.Outside of work, free speech has a lot of room, however when you're working in retail, in an office, for a newspaper, you don't have much room. Example, when I worked at a specific store, a black person came in and my manager told me to "keep an eye on him". If I refused, I could, and most likely would have been legally fired for "refusing to perform my duties on the job". This guy probably will be fired later down the line when everyone's attention is turned to something else the media has found. The case will go under the radar and be completely missed by the public. That's how a lot of crap has slipped through. If I'm wrong, please disprove me. I would very much like to be. :( |

i dont think there was any intention of racism. i believe it was implying that a monkey could do the same job as president obama when writing a stimulous plan. everyone needs to get racism off the brain and see people for what they are and what they do rather than the color of their skin. if this cartoon came out three months ago and it was implying that a monkey could do the same job as president bush, there would be no argument. |
