Really? They couldn't sedate it or something before serving it? I'm not saying that it wouldn't be pretty cool to have a little octopus crawling around on my dinner table, but if I pay to eat it I want it to at least stay in the bowl. |

Exactly right. To the vegetarians: Animals eat animals. Humans are omnivorous animals. Thus, it's natural for us to eat other animals. Y'know, when I'm going out for a meal with my mates, the last thing I want to be doing is to sit there trying to chat while keeping one eye on my dinner to make sure it doesn't try and sod off mid meal!Also, talk about the chef getting a free ride. I'm all about eating animals, they are put here to be used to sustain. But, there is something about eating it alive that just seems kinda wrong. I am a farm girl, so I know the animals I eat probably didn't have a quick painless death, but at the same time, they weren't chewed to death.
So I guess its not that I wouldn't eat an octopus, I would just like it dead before I bit in to it. I can't imagine the squirming would be appetizing. |

Well, for the record, it wasn't actually a "baby" octopus. More like half matured.
You could eat a baby octopus in one bite since they are about the size of your thumbnail. |

I love the food posts on IAB whenever it's an animal most IABers don't eat. "Omg how could they!" Yes, how could those weirdos eat something without setting it on fire first?! Or at least slit it's throat then put it through a blender! Or at the very very least let it suffocate! How can they be so cruel?! Eating meat is never "nice", and it doesn't get any better just because it's done behind closed doors and disguised. If you have some moral objection, you should really consider why, and if that means you should try being a vegetarian. If you don't have a problem with killing for food (like me), it doesn't really apply. (Although you should still make sure it's relatively quick and painless). |
