Saturday, February 14, 2009 9:35:43 PM ... The LHC broke down and won't be ready again until Sept. Arguments over the LHC only got media attention about 3 or 4 months before it was turned on. I expect the media won't be interested again until late July. |

Saturday, February 14, 2009 8:51:09 PM if they were making this up they would have been put to death(finacialy) and cast out into the horible place called high school, were they spend eterinity teaching science to idiots. |

Saturday, February 14, 2009 7:40:05 PM It's not being made up because the physics models that the animations are derived from are pretty well known. The black hole has an accretion disk, which many celestial objects have and have been observed, so the physics concerning that are set. And the other physical model is dealing with the jet, and we can base those models off of quasar and blazar jets which are also frequently observed. Of course, the latter two objects have active black holes at the center and hence why they have such powerful jets, but nonetheless. The physics is pretty messy, and even today you need a huge machine to complete the calculations, but the animations are of good physical soundness and are pretty accurate in their description. |
