I love Blink 182.

Everyone seriously needs to stop being such a bunch of idiots and acting as if their taste in music is better than everyone elses. Taste is subjective! The sooner everyone gets that through their heads, the better.

I hate the music of Coldplay, 50 Cent, Kid Rock, U2, Metallica, The Jonas Brothers etc. but I don't go on about it and I certainly don't judge people on it.

Seriously people, grow the hell up.

...On my iPod I have some rap, I have some classical music, I have some classic rock and I even have some OMG! BLINK 182! I can understand how someone may not like each of these, and they have every right not to like them, but they have no right to force their opinions on to me and tell me I'm an idiot for thinking otherwise.

"That's not what music is about and someone warped his mind and stole all the greatness out of music."

Someone's obviously warped your mind into believing you have any right to tell someone what music is and what they should listen to. Each individual has their own opinion on what makes good music and that's the beauty of it. Someone with a very narrow mind like yourself should not be discussing music at all and should certainly not be telling someone what music is or isn't...

I'm glad that they're back together, because I hated the arguments.
Also, they're doing a greatest-hits show. (:

Auburnjunky, I agree about your comment on American Idol and how it showcases real singing. I just think they put too much drama(have you noticed how many contestants who got screen time had a close family member die?!?). I suppose to keep their ratings high.

But my point of this comment; I think this is awesome that blink is back! I've been waiting so long :D

I loved Blink 182 in high school. When they broke up I remember being sad.
I really don't care that they're back together now. Their music will probably suck.
Angels And Airwaves or whatever were awful.

Yeah right. Anyone who isn't into decade old television and south park has their finger so far from the pulse it's probably picking boogers.
But seriously, I've never seen the show.

And that dictionary's the bees knees and all (wish I would've known about it when I had to do definitions in school.) but it doesn't have the word "music" in it, which means we're starting to venture from the topic.

Aww... just because you quoted a 90's sitcom and one of the hundreds of South Park episodes and I missed both the references doesn't mean I don't get pop culture. I bet that Clarissa show sucks, anyway. Have you read the Devil's Dictionary? This guy wrote it a long time ago and it has words defined the way they should, without the constraints of trying to sound neutral and professional.

and it doesn't really matter what dictionary you use, the definitions of words don't change too much.

-2. You admitted you have a vagina. No, I don't really think you did and understand that you were insinuating that I do, but still.

3. You quoted me saying someone was wrong for telling someone else music is only about technical quality. You then said people can listen to any music they wish based on their own personality. Where the hell is the disagreeing part of that?-

The vagina bit is a south park thing. I'll try and keep the pop-culture references to a minimum next time we bump heads.

And we may half-agree, but you yourself are still saying "music is only about..." which I whole-heartedly disagree with.

For what it's worth, you're an assh*le I respect too (I was literally going to start off my posts with something along those lines) and hopefully we remain neutral and go own about our way to disagree another day. I just love arguing and love playing the devil's advocate even more.

Besides, since when is m-w the ultimate source of information in the universe? Music isn't just a succession of sounds. That's called noise. Music has meaning, even if it has different meanings for different people.

1. I choose to believe that Blink-182 sound (I refuse to call it music) has no unity, continuity, or melody.

2. You admitted you have a vagina. No, I don't really think you did and understand that you were insinuating that I do, but still.

3. You quoted me saying someone was wrong for telling someone else music is only about technical quality. You then said people can listen to any music they wish based on their own personality. Where the hell is the disagreeing part of that?

4. I respect the fact that you save insults for religion and soccer threads. You still are an non-nice individual, but one that I respect a little bit.

"1 a: the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity b: vocal, instrumental, or mechanical sounds having rhythm, melody, or harmony"

Rap is music, opera is music, blink 182 is music.
If someone wants to hold a lighter up for a baby screaming his ass off and smashing pots and pans to a metronome, that's music too.

There is no "right" or "wrong" to sounds and words.

Honestly I don't know where to go with this.
I've never had someone flat-out tell me I agree with them while I"m actually arguing with them.

You said "That's not what music is" I said you're not the judge of that in any way, shape, or form. That's pretty straight-forward. Mind telling me how I'm agreeing with you?

And dude. I called you clarissa because there was a f*cking show called "clarissa explains it all" like 10 years ago. The reason there's no insults in that post is because I wasn't trying to insult you (though I can't say I feel bad for apparently doing so) I was being a smartass.

Don't know what makes you think I'm any less capable of throwing witty insults and vulgarity around than the next guy, anyway. I'm just not going to get all uppity and get sand in my vagina over something so trivial.
I save my insults for the religion and soccer threads.

It's a post about Blink-182. I'm forced to do as much bashing as I can because Blink-182 fans are idiots.

I'm not gonna tell you right kind of music, because you are correct to an extent that personality and taste are factors. I'll say again that the wrong kind of music is what shouldn't be called music because it isn't about the sound it's about the lyrics. That's also why rap isn't really music, by the way.

To all who believe they're going to be singing about being a teenager, really?

I mean, they've grown, matured even, ran into serious life milestones, and one member has even faced death himself.

Do you really think they're going to be singing about being a teenager now? I mean, you must know, right? Because your in their band and you know the exact issues they can sing about now.

STFU until their new album comes out.

The only merit to listening to Blink-182 was that the lyrics "related" to teens. If the only good part is the words, that's not music, that's peotry. If you thought we disagreed, maybe you could've said so instead of quoting me and then agreeing directly with the quote you used.

P.S. If you didn't feel the need to gratify your e-penis, you wouldn't have added Clarissa to your comment. You backed out of really insulting me by saying it's unnecessary over the internet and that I'm immature for throwing insults anonymously because, once again, you have nothing to say.

P.P.S. it's funny that your only posts in this thread are blindly bashing other people's right to do whatever the drat they want, and yet I'm the one who's a "generally ignorant prick"

I mean, what'd I say that showed more ignorance than you? I even threw in a '90s sitcom reference you didn't catch, that's one point for me already.

P.P.P.S.
You never did explain what the right kind of music was.

I read the whole thing, including the part where you called someone an idiot for the music they listen to.

You thinking you know what isn't music is just as douchey as the classical guy thinking he knows what is.

I take the stance of "I'll listen to what the hell I'll listen to, you listen to what the hell you listen to, and we'll both go on breathing regardless because there's greater issues in life than what someone listens to for their own enjoyment"

Which means I used the classic "be an ass to a douchebag" tactic, since we definitely don't agree.

P.S. If I felt the need to insult you to gratify my e-penis, I'd do just that. the pop-culture reference was just me being a smartass, douche wellington.
