Friday, January 30, 2009 10:47:57 PM First and foremost I think the dad got what was coming to him. It didn't sound like he was paying very close attention to his 11-month-old and perhaps was a bit distracted by the thousands of dollars worth of pot he was growing. So eff him.Secondly, that sounds like all kinds of civil liberty violations! "It became obvious what had happened" then they went ahead and searched because he was acting nervous! No one answered the door so they let themselves in! Perhaps he was just so scared that he let the police look around til they caught him. It seems like a simple "I want you to leave," or "you can't look around" would've either stopped them or forced them to break the law in order to catch him. Anyway, like I said, eff him. He deserves it. |

Friday, January 30, 2009 8:13:57 PM Yeah krath summed it up for me. It's impossible to overdose on cannabis unless you could somehow stop time? Legalize it :D |

Friday, January 30, 2009 7:42:21 PM Boadicea, that's the thing. If it was one plant, then the cops probably wouldn't have done anything, just mentioned to keep it out of reach of the kid. Legally speaking, a person is allowed to hold up to 16 grams in Canada without it being a big problem. Once you get above that, they consider it intent to traffic, and you could be in HUGE trouble. And yes, Canada's the highest pot-smoking rate in the world. Stupid, eh? (Personally, I don't see why marijuana should be illegal when much more harmful chemicals are readily available in cigarettes.) |

Friday, January 30, 2009 7:09:18 PM For everyone's information.According to which US Government authority you want to believe, the lethal dose of marijuana is either about one-third your body weight, or about 1,500 pounds, consumed all at once. But non the less it would most definitely not be good for a developing child. http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/libr... |

Friday, January 30, 2009 6:32:01 PM "You might take 2 seconds to think about it before that sort of comment. If the kid can play with the phone, he can play with the plants; if he eats a bud or two (which he may well do because they smell quite sweet) he'd be dead in seconds. "not true. he would just fall asleep...

Friday, January 30, 2009 5:28:52 PM F/CK the police now that kid doesnt have a dad... Who gives a sh/t if he was doing something ILLEGAL in.. (oh god forbid) the same house as a baby!? What difference does it make if it's illegal? How does the growth of pot plants differ from him growing 500 ferns in the house with the baby? Illegality does not harm the kid in any way, but losing your dad for the majority of your young life definitely does. |

Friday, January 30, 2009 3:36:27 PM jumper: Haha, I stand corrected!Turnshroud: Medicinal pot is legal. Marijuana itself isn't legal, but we're usually pretty lenient about it. |

Friday, January 30, 2009 3:25:29 PM Disregarding whether it should or should not be legal or illegal, the fact that he was doing something so illegal with a child in the house DEFINITELY worries me. |
