Monday, December 29, 2008 12:59:14 AM @Baalthazaq:The idea is that not every device that has been invented has been recorded in our history. It is entirely possible that we're cleaning up after some great society--far more advanced than us--that died a hard death, and we're all making it up as we go along. |

Sunday, December 28, 2008 8:59:52 PM Ballaerina: Pet peeve of mine, I call it Eastern vs Western questions. "Science cannot explain the pyramids" "They are made of rock" "Oh ok, nevermind then" The point of that is it's a basically a 1BC computer. The question is how did they come up with something so complex so long ago. They also called the batteries in the list "unexplained by science", yet described their purpose, what they were, what they were probably used for and how they were built, what their composition was. The unexplained part is how the hell some guy came up with the idea in a time period devoid of anything even close to that technology level. Like finding an IPOD in Tutenkhamun's sarcophagus and going "Oh it's an ipod" does not make it "explained", it's still weird as hell. |
