Friday, January 02, 2009 11:51:32 PM I, too, had a close-to-lightning experience. To make it simple and to the point, we were driving home from the grocery store on a rainy Sunday evening, and when we least expect it, BANG! Lightning struck about 50ft away and we almost crashed because the sound scared us fuckless. Like another user said, it was like a flashbang, but a bit worse. |

Thursday, December 25, 2008 1:55:18 PM Shadow Xein: nope. only hurts if you're actually hit. you may however experience chest pains, and shooting agony in your left arm, in which case you're having a heart attack. but anyways. try going somewhere like croatia when it hasn't rained for 8 months, then getting stuck outside in the storm. i tells ya, it's scary as hell, but only lethal if you're struck, and even then it's not a guarantee. |

Thursday, December 25, 2008 11:25:18 AM That scared me, but shouldn't be dead, or at least hurt if lighting struck that close? |

Thursday, December 25, 2008 6:13:49 AM My mother and I are very electro-sensitive (she more so than I) and when lightning has been that close to us, geeze, it is the /worst/ feeling just before the strike. It's almost like you can feel the particles in the air aligning or something and the hair on the back of your neck starts to rise. |

Thursday, December 25, 2008 5:44:23 AM I had that happen to me once. Was the most scared I have ever been in my life. It happened a long time ago when I was in the 6th or 7th grade, and I was sitting in the office after school waiting for my mother to come pick me up and there was a telephone pole about 100 feet from the office. First it started off as really loud static, and then it built up into a high pitched sound, and next thing we knew a bolt of lightening struck the telephone pole and the flash was so intents it was almost like looking into a flash bomb grenade as one goes off. Left everyone blind for a few seconds with ringing in their ears. |
