Wednesday, November 26, 2008 10:55:24 PM "99 white males miss out of a job because the department has to hire a black man or a woman to satisfy the PC movement" ????????????????So it takes 1 under-qualified black guy to do 99 white guys' jobs? LOL MODERATOR OR NOT, YOU SIR ARE A DOUCHEBAG. Whether or not Obama does a good a job is besides the point. He was elected president and has made history, so deal with it. |

Wednesday, November 26, 2008 9:43:36 AM A bit premature. Sure, he's a nice guy, and he'll probably do the country some good, but it's too soon to know what will happen. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 9:00:18 PM I thought there was a moratorium on naming government buildings after living persons, just like there is with placing their images on currency and postage stamps. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 7:06:22 PM A very serious question: At what point is a person no longer black? I honestly couldn't tell if the governor was white or black until they said. Do they just have to have some African origin?Anyways, it's a landmark election. It's only fitting that schools would be named/renamed after Obama. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 2:15:08 PM "i really feel we should wait on a verdict for bush even. he made some very drastic moves against public opinion and i think we should see what it looks like after the smoke clears. lets look at the middle east in a decade."I completely agree amaq. I think in 100 years people will look back, see we were attacked on 9/11, that Bush promised to protect us, and he did, even when it was unpopular. A president's basic job is national security, and Bush hasn't failed us in that respect. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 1:51:06 PM > mrwnt > "So what's the story with the "Mrwnt" character blah blah > I don't know what I did to you. I just put out an opinion. Why don't you try addressing that instead of calling names?Don't worry about it mrwnt, opine away and don't let the occasional detractor stop you. You're as entitled to state your opinion as anyone else. In the words of Wayne & Schuster, "I dunno what ya said, but I'll defend'n ta the death your right to say it"

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 8:33:42 AM He can be named after a school... plenty of people who were never president had stuff dedicated to them like RFK, Daniel Webster, and Henry Clay. Everyone needs to grow up. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 8:26:59 AM and btw, affirmative action isn't a long term solution, it's a short term effort to level the playing field that is certainly not perfect. (although who knows how long it will actually go on, the deciders will decide that) |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 8:23:33 AM Naming a school after the president elect isn't giving him an A+, the teacher said herself that the students petitioned for this to happen. no doubt the adults agreed with it, but it wasn't their idea. go ahead, let those second graders know why they shouldn't change their schools name... lmao |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 8:23:19 AM Sorry let me revise that... I said it out of impulse. What I meant was that any company that follows this 'rule' of having a certain percentage of employees a different skin color is too morally backward and corrupt for someone to be interested in anyway. Whoever created this 'rule' is/are clearly a retarded racist non-nice individual(s). |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 8:19:40 AM Oh no... that anit' happening here... There is no way they'd do that if I applied and was turned down because they need a black guy. I'd probably make a scene. |

With affirmative action, 1 black guy doesn't DO the job of 99 white guys. He GETS the job over 99 white guys just because of his skin color. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 7:49:39 AM um hitler is historic, you don't see us changing school names to Hitler High do you? I agree we should wait it out and see how he does before we start idolizing him. I'm not saying it wasn't a great moment for our country, I'm just sayin' we don't know this man, he could be just as bad a bush or worse. Don't jump the gun. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 4:38:23 AM lion, i agree with you there, it happens alot here in England. and especially where i live cos there are hardly any other races here other than british white.. so its pretty difficult as it is to find a job without there having to be a percentage of other ethnicities working for them. It sucks. It should be qualifications and experience that matter, not race. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 12:58:01 AM > mrwnt > Isn't it counter-productive to give the guy an A+ on his job before he even does it just because he's the first black to do it?No mrwnt, that's called "affirmative action" or more often, "equal rights". Like when 99 white males miss out of a job because the department has to hire a black man or a woman to satisfy the PC movement, even when that person is one-tenth as qualified. |

Monday, November 24, 2008 10:24:02 PM 'i personally don't feel that obama played the race card at all during the election. he was charismatic and came across as an intelligent and inspired candidate. the twenty something bracket finally turned out to vote because of it. these people are naming a school after him, however, just because he is black. excuse me, half-white.'The public made it a race issue, obviously as its seen here. We keep making this a 'oh yay the first black president, he made history' crap. That is playing the race card. He should be treated as a person regardless of his race, voted into office based on the issues, which was not done here. Alot of African Americans came out to vote in record numbers because they wanted a black person in office, not becuase they understood the issues. And im not saying all African Americans did this, but dont you find it odd that they never came out to vote like they did this election? Im from Ny im not far from Hempstead..Hempstead school district is mostly black.

Monday, November 24, 2008 9:37:39 PM I can take pride that we have come this far.I can't take pride in the fact that blacks haven't come far enough to let the issues matter more than a candidate's skin color for their vote. |

Monday, November 24, 2008 9:34:26 PM s it just me or is it mostly just black people who care that obama is black? i don't care. none of the white people that i know care. get over it. this reverse racism is ridiculous. you didn't hear us yelling white pride every time a white guy won. -------------------------------------------------thats because this is the first time a black person has won.. its a great moment. Not 50+ years ago blacks had to drink from separate water fountains, now one is president. Thats something you should take pride in. |
