Tuesday, November 25, 2008 6:52:34 PM Kudos to Mrs. Foster for giving her son the necessary mindset for accepting his death in a way we all hopefully will, excepting his was a tragic depature 70 years before anyone would want to expect. The mindset being that no man is an island to himself and that postiveness facing death must be drawn with the knowledge that our fellow man goes on without us. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 6:51:30 PM I want a statue of that kid put up in DC. Or at least a memorial.Anyone can do what he did, but he took the initiative- and that makes him awesome. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 6:47:32 PM Sooooo, here I go.I know this thread is already old, but just my 2-cents. Lionhart as far as I know the guy, has spent a lifetime giving to the homeless and disadvantaged. I know that Lionhart isnt trying to take away from the kid, he's looking from the vantage point of the people he's spent his life with: the disadvantaged. One good deed pales into insignificance, no matter what the exceptional circumstances, when compared to the good deeds of one individual under very non-exceptional circumstances. The former makes the news, the latter makes the difference. I hope this message reaches some of you, late as it is.

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 4:38:09 PM > habbazoot > unlikely? yesNot that unlikely. The local Youth Shelter, and the Eastside Community Centre for older people, in my city are both funded purely by donations, of which I am one. It doesn't take one person giving a lot, it just takes lots of people giving what they can spare. |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 2:55:29 PM lionhart, i know what you mean. but this kids tried to make a difference, and maybe, just maybe, there's at least one person who wont feed the homeless once. they'll do it everyday. unlikely? yes. but you can still hope and believe someone will do this all the time |

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 1:29:31 PM Ooh lots of hatemail, I must have said something worth writing down and telling Santa. I sympathise with the kid, not saying what he did wasn't a nice thing, it WAS. Just saying there are two sides to everything, and the homeless were stripped of any dignity they had left to be the feelgood playthings of the day. Tomorrow they'll be back on the street and starving. To have any REAL meat to it, the "wish" should have taken them from the streets and back to a normal life for good. If you can't see the whole thing from the POV of a homeless guy, you're swallowing the short of junk Maury, Springer or Oprah serves up ad nauseum. |
