Monday, November 24, 2008 10:08:21 AM Splurby if you havent already noticed your country is in the grip of an Oligarchy they control you through religion and mass media already. The time for throwing off tyranny passed and you were armed and did bugger all about it! They were just a wee bit more subtle than sending in the troops so your arguement about retaining arms is irrelevant. |

Monday, November 24, 2008 9:00:23 AM burn him. not as if he will ever amount to anything. Any 8 yo who can deliberatly kill 2 people, is obviously mentally disabled and should be put to sleep before he can f*ck up anybody elses lives. |

Monday, November 24, 2008 6:07:09 AM "However, Washington, DC has a UK-like ban on handguns, and it has the highest murder rate in the US, by far. So, you cannot really compare the two..."DC no longer has the gun ban... FYI (due to recent events) ALSO- McDuff: Our right to bare arms is for the EXACT reasons you just explained. Yes, our military is one of the best armed in the world. Our right to bare arms is to STAND AGAINST TYRANNY. If our Government were to one day decide to try to make the second Holocaust, we would be able to defend ourselves from afore mentioned well armed military. Although as a United States Marine I can honestly say that if my Commander told me to open fire on innocent civilians, I would shoot him in the face. But the point stands true to this day. We bare arms to protect ourselves from tyranny (sp?). |

Monday, November 24, 2008 2:53:37 AM firstly you were given the right to bear arms at a time when you had no standing army to talk of and quite rightly needed protection from the oppressive British army however that doesnt stand today as you have the best equipped military in the world! you dont all need to own guns now to protect you from the King! As for the stats its more like 3 times the amount of murders comitted but when you look at the stats for people killed with guns not just murders but accident as well its scary as crap if guns were not as available people wouldnt be able to access them as readily and less people would die! And one city having a ban is ridiculous if you can just go to the next town and buy all guns you want so its hardly a good example! Yes people use other things as weapons but they are all ultimately more survivable than bullets being shot into you!

Sunday, November 23, 2008 10:58:34 PM "McDuff73 Look at the statistics for gun deaths in your country where guns are allowed and any other country where they are not! in 2004 there were 29,569 gun deaths in America as opposed 78 in the UK in a year!"You simply cannot compare the UK to the USA here. We were acknowledged our right to have guns thanks to to people like you who kept trying to kill us during the 1600s-1700s. ;) Oh, and by the way, you do realize America is far more populated, so comparing numbers instead of percentages is really misleading. You also have murders by other weapons to factor in there. Since less people have guns in the UK, they use knives, crowbars, etc. The US has 0.042802 per 1,000 people murdered. The UK has 0.0140633 per 1,000 people murdered. So the US has twice as many people murdered. However, Washington, DC has a UK-like ban on handguns, and it has the highest murder rate in the US, by far. So, you cannot really compare the two... |

Sunday, November 23, 2008 4:38:34 PM this just seems all wrong to me. nothings adding up. also, again, the subject of domestic violence prior to this happening in the household has been totally forgotten.has anybody heard from the mother? neighbours? friends? was there domestic violence and if so, under what charges? and more is needed of the interview. the media can pick and choose pretty much want they want from the facts to make a story seem better. |

Sunday, November 23, 2008 4:27:32 PM "...so then I went downstairs and reloaded the gun, and adjusted the sights because they were set for fifty-yard bullet drop and this was close range shooting. Then I saw Tim and figured the best way to put him down would be a headshot because these were full metal rounds and don't have the same stopping power as my usual hollow-points, but I'm using iron sights on a 3-inch snubnose, no laser, so I had to steady the handgun on the balustrade..."Dunno. Seems a bit much for an 8-year-old. |

Sunday, November 23, 2008 3:42:22 PM This video doesn't show what he said prior to this "confession." He had a different story before, and an article said that he only "confessed" after the police said, "Are you sure you didn't do it?" They're looking into the whole thing because the police apparently began interrogating him without reading him his rights or having a parent or lawyer in the room. And children at that age will go along with anything if you lead them enough. There was a case where a therapist got children to admit and even believe that they were molested by their nursery school teachers. |

Sunday, November 23, 2008 12:21:08 PM It's scary to think kids are getting crazier, younger. How an 8 year old is able to get a hold of a gun is bad. what next... third graders having sex and snorting coke? |
